The only V8 option is an entire C-class away? C’mon, Merc. Don’t be like that...

lul my truck gets same mileage than the E63

They might not offer any V8 in the future..

It’s actually kind of amazing that an AWD TTV8 4500lb car can somehow avoid single-digit gas mileage.

Well, no. If it was a 6,000 pound car that would be amazing.

With the new 4.0 liter V8 from the AMG GT and the new C63, i doubt

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the last generation of the amg v8. It certainly won’t last forever.

You must not be old enough to remember the bad old days where efficiency was a trade off for performance and not a compliment to it.

Yeah they got that but still. I predict a v6 for the next gen C63. The naturally aspirated engines will die:(

For AMG they are already dead. The 6.5 V12, the 6.2 V8, the 4.0 V8 and the 2.0 I4 are turbocharged. The only NA AMG Mercedes you can buy is the quite old SLK55 AMG.

Hope not. We can all forget about depreciation making these things affordable for the rest of us if that’s the case... :(

Damn I didn’t know that. The SLK as we know it is on its way out. There will be a facelift and a new name; SLC. Oh, and the V8 will be replaced.

Lemme help!
Why don’t you get the E500 anyway? Emissions aren’t even that bad ... oh well, the E 500 4MATIC is 8g/km away from the E 63. Maybe that’s where this comes from? Fleet emission targets?

It’s an unfortunate reality we’ll have to face some day. The regular Mercedes v8 isn’t actually anything too exciting anyways.

No can haz E500 in america.

Is the E Class even popular here anymore (US America)? If I were shopping in that segment I think I’d go 5 series or Jaaag.

I’ve heard talk of mercedes developing a straight six. You know, if they can make a balls to the wall AMG sledgehammer with a twin turbocharged straight six I will not object!

Seriously my 3200lb, awd, car with a turbo 4 averages like 23. but that’s because it’s 25 years old, and engines are just better than they used to be.
![]() 11/08/2015 at 11:07 |

And here I used to think that engine would be the go-to choice stateside. D:

The turbo 4 amg makes proves they can make any engine configuration batshit insane.

My RWD V8 4200lb car gets about 15/22.
Then again it makes 260hp.

I think you missed the just released AMG 4.0l V8. N/A V8 is likely done in Germany.
U-S-A! U-S-A!

That’s the one I’m referring to. The e63 does still have the older 4.7 still
![]() 11/08/2015 at 13:33 |

Yep theres no more E500. You gotta go get a used one from a few years back for that.

Second most popular midsized luxury car in the US. The new challenger has only been surpassing it for a couple of years. The merc had the top spot for almost half a decade before that.

Huh. When I had an ‘87 300D I noticed every E-Class. Now I see a C-Class and say: “is that an E?” They’re almost invisible.

Lexus ES? Should be comparing the E Class with the GS, not the ES.

That’s not how market segments work. I know folks around here would never pick an Avalon badge swap over a honest-to-goodness RWD German, but enthusiasts do not steer the market. Real buyers look at these two vehicles and see similar things in them. Similar enough to consider one over the other and vice versa. That matters far, far more then how similar/dissimilar they are specifically.
