It’s that time that those of us in the north who don’t have heated garages or shops to put our projects to sleep for the winter.

My POS has managed to not only acquire a full complement of sheet metal and interior parts but to actually be driven down a public street this season. Hopefully next year it becomes presentable in the looks department too, like losing the bumper guards that don’t belong on a ‘71 (a prior owner must have scavenged parts from a ‘73) and becoming one color.

Here in the Midwest Winter is when shit gets done! Pick up a propane heater, staple some plastic sheeting to the rafters and you have a perfectly good winter workspace.

The complication is that it’s not my garage. Due to a lack of a proper garage at my place I have to work on it in my parents’ garage and in winter they pack it full of their stuff so there’s no room to work. Believe me, me wife is fully aware that our next house has to have room to work on project cars in the garage and that one will get insulated and heated.

Then you would be normal. Mine didn’t leave the garage for many, many years. That’s why getting it moving made me irrationally happy.

That’s normal not irrational.

I’m in Minnesota, garage season doesn't end. Though I don't have anything to work on so... my point is moot.

At my age crawling around cold cement while using cold tools on cold metal isn’t appealing to me. Give me some heat out there and it would be prime time since there’s no yard work to be done on weekends. Besides my parent store all of their stuff in there in winter. I don’t have many demands for a new house but my wife knows that a garage suitable for projects is my line in the sand. It is not negotiable. That garage WILL be insulated and heated by some means.

Well, that does complicate things a bit.

At least it’s secure!

I dunno. “Normally Happy” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
