If you couldn’t guess, I went to a junk yard today.
Made where!? (850s actually have more than a few German parts)
But just look at that face.
Lastly, the Volvo wasn’t the only thing getting fixed today.

The intercoolers on my A6 are Swedish made.

My wife said that exact thing within an hour of getting him home.

Really funny how global Volvos are... Really not many American parts though

IIRC something not Swedish recently gave out on my dad’s V70 though I don’t exactly remember what it was other than German...

You could have picked this little latch up and shipped it to me. Mine broke and I’ve been using a bolt sticking through the grille to open up the hood for some time now. Looks shit, but gets the job done! For some reason 850s are impossible to find in the junkers in my area and that little thing is worth a ridiculous amount of money from the factory (as is anything Volvo, apparently).
Also the blower motor, as mine has finally given up the ghost yesterday after squealing for a couple months :(

Ah, would I have known I totally would have! They’re not exactly plentiful around here, between about 4 salvage yards nearby I can usually only track down one.
I anyways year the dash apart on the off chance I’ll find an intact odometer gear, because I really don’t want to pay $20 for a tiny piece of plastic.

Those break down so much I suppose they must be pretty hard to find. I know mine was replaced at least once during the car’s life - the odo shows 160k miles on the clock, but if you do the trick with the underhood blinky-lights-thingy to see the real mileage stored in the cluster, it shows closer to 240k miles! And chances are it isn’t even the original cluster that came with the car.

Mine reads 167k, the previous owner had a lot of paperwork and it looked like it had only stopped working within the previous year before I got it. Of course there’s no knowing if it had broken previously, when I finally got a carfax I discovered that I’m the 7th owner.

Is yours pre-OBD II? If it is, it’s possible (and very easy) to check the actual mileage in the cluster (not the ECU). That would give you an idea of the distance covered by the car while the odo was stopped.

No, it’s OBD II.
