I’m at 56.6

Exactly WHAT engine is in that Camaro? That's too little even for the 305.

My 1970 Volvo has 41 hp per litre. Not an achievement in any sense..

Most of these examples are pretty old.

Did you know you can get a brand new vehicle with a motor producing 50hp per liter? It’s even got the word ‘sport’ in its name.

There were a few 305’s offered in the early 90s

The 170-hp TBI

There was a TPI that made 200 hp with an automatic transmission, 230 hp with a manual.

You want litres? Have some litres. To be exact, have 25,480 of them which between them manage to produce 108,000 bhp. Only 4.25 hp per litre though.

If you want to talk about efficiency, you talk about BSFC. Any other measure, on displacement, torque, mass, etc. is all imprecise. You can have a tiny displacement engine with massive boost (F1 engines) make tons of power, or a massive atmospheric engine make the same. Displacement as a measure only matters because of silly tax laws and the physical restrictions of the vehicle (assuming that engine size/mass and displacement have a strict relationship, which isn’t true - look at how big an Ecoboost 4 with all it’s goodies is...).
