I’d recommend something faster, so you can get out of Nebraska quickly. I have hit Vmax in my vehicle many times going through Nebraska driving cross country

Soon to be wearing a lightbar and police decals at a station near you.
# by you I refer to any police force in America from Hicksville up to metropolis.

I like it here since I’m not in a rural area.

If you head down to South Africa, I’m sure you’ll be able to find a scrapped SAP Casspir that you can rebuild.

We already have one.

Lol. You can’t make this shit up.
I’d see that thing on a highway and think ‘yep, never going to Douglas County if the Sheriff needs one of those to patrol’.
I’d expect something like this in a middle eastern hotspot or during the apartheid era of South Africa but not the U.S., sorry I take that back, I would in fact expect this in the U.S. if only for the ‘look at my rig’.

The federal govt. basically gave these to municipalities who needed to replace very outdated SWAT vehicles. They’re overkill but they’re free, since the government had plenty of surplus.

would buy

Free to them just means the federal government doesn’t recoup any money from them which means it comes out of everyones taxes instead of just the municipality or the state...

I think Hummer should make a comeback... hear me out though. They could make cool military style ATVs (maybe some bikes too), light off-roading trucks, and things that resemble this but in fact are merely the pontoon boat equivalent for the off-roading community.
The only stipulation that I would have would be to make sure GM has nothing to do with it. Maybe Jeep could spin off a Wrangler sub brand.

Two words: “North Omaha”.
(although that’s probably exaggerating it a bit. I can’t imagine North O is nearly as bad as Detroit.)

That is a civilian model. It’s for released prisoners who have been institutionalized and feel uneasy on the outside. The cage keeps them comfortable so that they can drive calmly.

Apparently the crime rates there are absurdly high, and I’ve heard it said that it has the highest murder rate of African American males ages 18-25 in the country. Personally, I have to say that I’ve never felt the least bit unsafe in North O. Not like parts of Chicago and Detroit where I got nervous when the car stopped.

Yeah, I’m still fuzzy on all that. I remember when the program started a year or so ago there was a huge uproar that we were become a military state because the police had these rigs. Personally, I never got all that freaked out by it. As for the economics/financial sense, well, as you can see by my poor explanation, I don’t know.

Meh, it's probably a wash. Demil and sale has cost plus you maintain the OM budget while working to that point. Maybe, if an ally wanted them, it would work out to less cost, but IIRC there simply wasn't a market.

Yeah and maybe this is the best use of them now, I just don’t see how we made so much surplus... I don’t really care about the repurposing, but trying to spin that in a positive light just doesn’t make sense to me.

You could always buy a cattle hoof-trimming truck and pretend it’s the same.
