Why do they sound like they’re powered by nightmares and lost souls? I’m all for saving mother earth and all that, but I think using the hellmouth as a source of renewable energy is a bridge too far...

Fuck generators.

I just let one run out of fuel, because it’s fuel gauge it’s broken. Probably turned this 12 hour shift into a 13.

Oh boy, that sure is better for the environment now.

Why not make the garbage truck run off the garbage it picks up?

Some are hydraulic, some are pneumatic. When the driver pressed the brake pedal, the system captures energy from the moving driveshaft to high-pressure reservoir. Then when the driver steps on the gas, the system send that energy back into the driveshaft. With all the start-stop duties of a garbage truck, they have a few percent on fuel, but they brakes last 3-5 times longer. Apparently fixing brakes on a refuse truck is a monthly thing so that’s where the saving is.

I’ve never heard the banshee powered garbage truck, but I would wager the one you hear it pneumatic. Video next week?

This one captures what I mean a bit. That ‘eeeEEEeeeEEEEEHHHHH’. It gets up to Stephen King levels of volume when the truck has a chance to hit highway speeds. If the doom space marine were real, he’d totally be shooting these things.
