My affordable dream car! I won’t say much about it now, but all I can say is that it is orange, it has been abandonned for 6 months to 1 year, outside unprotected, it needs a bit of work and I might just temporarily give up on the 911SC I was supposed to get just for it... The car is not going anywhere for now and I will know more about it when I get back from France mid-december...
Needless to say I am rather exited :)

Congrats man! Are you planning to do a journal series of write-ups as you progress through the restoration?

I first have to get the car... it’s not done yet :)
If the price is right, I may indeed get it (it is done through a friend’s shop and like everything in Japan, price is usually more than right if the sale goes on between people who know each other :)... The car is expected to be around 4000$). I won’t do all the restoration myself though, especially body-wise. But yes you can be certain that I will picture and write about all the steps if it goes through.

Good to hear, and best of luck on getting it. I’ll have to live my 240Z ownership fantasy vicariously through you.

Mine is orange, orange is the best. I haven’t decided on the rear spoiler, my friend and I may make a magnetic one so it can come off, I don’t want to drill holes, the whole car is original. They are the best, my dad has had a Porsche SC since I was born and I like the growl of my Z with triple carbs. I just got all new Weber 40 carbs and an ITG filter, 280ZX ignition and a Optima battery. I’m doing new springs and shocks right now, hopefully in the next couple weeks when work lets up I can get her out again. I will post the changes.

Yes, the triple Weber is a must as soon as (if) I get the car... The noise it makes is just too freaking awesome! To have an original RHD Z, in orange at that, is better than I ever expected!

Just a bit, eh?

I won’t take care of that. I’m good friend with a local car restoration shop here in Okazaki, and he is king at this kind of stuff ;)

That is gorgeous. I have always had a long standing love for the original Z cars.

My car came with DCOE 45s and it was hard to dial it in for more normal driving, also bogs down more. If you want to spend more I would get the Mikunis. I just got the 40s so we will see how it goes. My car was in a shed. They had the carbs and some things but I pretty much had to go through everything. The rear disk kit that uses 1986 Maxima rotors is a great improvement. Check the dog legs, they might be good on the outside but look inside! Mine are all reinforced now with good drainage.

Just make sure it’s not the “Devil Z” Maybe check for some blue paint under that orange.
