Here we have the Audi APB 2.7tt in its secondary habitat.. The face is in its mating pose, as it attempts to attract a suitable benefactor. Most are scared away by such a vulgar display, but fortunately there are brave souls about for whom such a picture elicits an empathetic response. This little fellow has suffered a bout of incontinence, and fortunately was brought into the clinic before any real damage could be done. He’ll be fixed up and released into the wild by nightfall, ready to run hard until he meets with the inevitable K03 Event that plagues his species.
Calm down, JKM & KusabiSensei, I’m messing with you guys. They’re not that bad. ;)

Oh yeah, I forgot you had one too. As I’m required to say every time I respond to you, I want your car.

It’s a purdy block, so it’d make a good one. But this one’s being fixed.

Yup, only slightly less complicated than 2.7 Lyfe. :)

Haven’t had to do one of those, thankfully. I really don’t care for R’s though, they’re just poorly engineered.
We had to do the saddle fuel tanks on an old Esprit once, those were a total bastard, requiring pulling most of the rear of the car apart. Also, MBZ M116 V8 heads. 8 hours drilling out, tapping, and helicoiling 32 (or 36, I forget) head bolt holes after pulling the engine and heads. Hate that job.

I used to smell like cutting oil for 3 days afterward. Not bad cars, actually, but many things are a pain in the ass.

The 2.7 is actually a pretty solid engine, it’s just a pain in the ass to work on.

Hey now! Some of us like R’s! (as long as they have a warranty!) Soooooooo comfortable for road trips. And the best part is that I can put the in-laws all the way in back where I can forget they’re even there. Backstory: I own an R500, it’s the wife’s car.
So glad I’m young enoughthat I never had to work on that old stuff regularly. Every once in a while is fine especially if I’m just doing it for “fun”, but it’s not something to try to make a paycheck on anymore. They always have some weird problem they want diagnosed but this is missing and that’s been modified and the last decade’s worth of hacks have clearly had their way with it but they brought it to us because no one else could figure out out and they’re the 42nd owner and don’t have any money to put into it anyway and rant rant rant.
