Designed by former Douglas Aircraft engineer Bruce Del Mar, the DH-20 was an outgrowth of earlier for simple, open-cockpit rotorcraft to carry a single occupant, following on from the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The DH-20 was conceived as a portable medical evacuation helicopter that could carry a pilot and two passengers, or a pilot and one patient in a litter. Powered by twin turbine engines, the whole thing could be folded up for transport, and was capable of operating from landing zones too small for traditional helicopters. As need for such helicopters waned, the DH-20 never entered production, nor was it ever flown operationally.
