So I did in fact get both pieces !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ! And I had some down time today so I put together some designs for what I plan to do with them.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Nissan Sign
So I’ll start with the big ass Nissan sign that is going to be a bar. I’m going to make the base out of pallets, similar to what’s below, and use a combination of wood burning and license plates (not necessarily the nissan ones pictured) to create the design above.
The sign is about 13’ long so I’m going to trim down the ends a bit and allow for a bit of overhang on each end so the front face will be made up of 3 pallet frames (end result of 120” l x 48” h) and fill in the gaps with more pallet wood. Poly over everything and then get to work on the top.
For the top I’ll have to build a wood subframe for rigidity and use an acrylic or plexiglass top that will sit flush in the wood trim. I think I might build a cooler into it and see how it goes from there.
VW Caddy Tailgate
For this I’m going to build a blanket chest that keeps the functionality of the latch and it can double as a coffee table. I’m not quite sure about the structural design yet, but I think the outside dimensions will be about 54” w x 20” d x 20” h. I made up some designs for each of the sides:
Back
Front
Side
Side
Let me know what you think and I’ll give full art credit for this stuff when I make a full write-up of each.

That table is going to be awesome and using the tailgate latch as the actual latch is a great idea.

Good ideas. If you can get pallets, and like that sort of thing. I would use 2x2 for the frame, maybe 2x4 for the top that holds the actual tailgate. You can put a center support in the gram to utilize pallet wood for the sides.
Do you have the hardware for the tailgate? Like side brackets that the tailgate hatches to, to keep it closed, or the hinges. I was able to get all these parts for mine, although I was not going to make it open.
Pardon my rough sketches.
