Kinja'd!!!

I was Connecticut last week visiting the ‘rents and went by this place one night. One of the coolest showrooms in America. I didn’t have time to go by when they were open, but snapped these with my potato through the windows. Fortunately before my drool sullied the glass.

You’re actually lucky to have stumbled upon the dealership when they were closed - when they’re open, they ask you to leave the property if you aren’t a serious buyer.

Seriously? Sounds like a quite nasty place.

Yeah, but they were polite about it. Kinda understandable given how expensive and rare some of the cars they sell are! This was the weekend of the Greenwich Concours though so maybe they were just extra fed up with the gawkers

Yeah, I grew up in Greenwich and I’ve been inside a few times. If you’re there on a quiet afternoon, they’ll let you look around. It helps if you know what you’re looking at and aren’t just some gawker.

It’s probably for the best they were closed. All that drool...

So many good ones. Is that a La Spiaggina/Jolly ?????

Yeah, I don’t think I’d refuse any of those cars if someone was handing me the keys. Those cars aren’t at the top of my Ferrari list, but I still like them.

That is a 600 Jolly. The perfect color, too. My father thought the wicker seats were hilarious. I think that one sold for big money at an auction, or something, because I’m pretty sure I’ve seen pictures of it before.

That second picture of the post is so typical for you. With all those supercars nearby you chose to focus on that Jolly. Awesome. What was that red convertible next to it, a Maserati Ghibli Spyder?

That picture was the first one I took, obviously. I always gravitate to the smallest car. And the orangest car.

Well spotted. I do believe that is a Maserati Ghibli Spyder. Gorgeous car.

ORANGE FTW! I’m glad you do. Don’t forget to wear orange on your Euro-trip.

I like the Ghibli a lot. But the best Maserati for me from that era is the Mexico. You know how it got that name?

My father, my brother, and me all attended Syracuse University (although I left after a year). Their color is orange and they used to be called the Orangemen, so we have a lot of orange clothing. Although their teams lose a lot, so he tends to say that the color orange is cursed.

I like those Frua Mexicos. So handsome. Wasn’t the first one given to the president of Mexico? Where is that car, I wonder. I’ve always thought the Mistral was really pretty.

Well, we’ve never won the final of a World Championship soccer (we were in a final three times!) so I guess your dad is right: Orange is cursed...

Vignale had a prototype on it’s stand for the Torino car show. Adolfo López Mateos, a former Mexican president, liked it that much that he bought it. Maserati liked it as well and created the Mexico on a slightly different platform (shortened Quatroporte chassis instead of an old 5000 GT chassis).

That’s exactly like Syracuse. They would always make it to the finals and then lose in heartbreaking fashion. But, then they finally won in 2003 which my father described as the “best day ever.” He has 4 kids, but The Orangemen winning the title beats all.

Ah, so he bought it. I love this.

Kinja'd!!!

That’s interesting that it’s a shortened Quattroporte.

The only Syracuse I ever ended up in was on Sicily. But we’ve covered that already. I think many Dutchmen would prefer our national team to become the World Champions over any kid of theirs...

That color is awesome on that one. A shortened Quatroporte: No wonder they named it Mexico . What’s the fun of Dueporte...

Good point. Especially if you’re Italian. They’re into some weird stuff.
