I’m not usually a fan of MGAs, I always thought the grill looked funny, but something about this one is just... right.

To properly appreciate this car, you need to be a full professor at the local Ivy League university and look like this guy:

My father’s first car when he got out of the navy in 1963 was a MG Mark II convertible (white with red leather interior). He is now semi-retired and living in Hilton Head, SC (playing a lot of golf). I just sent him this link. It’s also perfect because he went to UNC for undergrad, and you can’t deny that the paint color is a perfect “Tar Heel blue.”

Wow, white with red interior? That sounds gorgeous. It’s funny, these cars were going for $60-70k, and now the prices seem to have dropped a lot for nice examples. “Tar Heel blue” eh? Doesn’t get any more British than that.

You know, I think the prices really reflect the condition. These were not particularly “rare” cars, though obviously less common in the states than overseas. I have spent ten years trying to convince him to buy an old MGA or Austin Healey 3000, and I’ve seen good restored versions of both for under $35k (with the Healeys, it seems to depend on the engine). But, by no means do I have any special knowledge about these. That’s just what I’ve seen from casual looking at Classic Car Trader, etc.

It’s funny. I just sent my father the link, trying to convince him this would be perfect for him. His response, word for word: “Pretty neat, but I’d still prefer my white convertible with red leather seats and a black top (maybe with a wheelchair lift on the back).”
I forwarded this link in response:

Yes, that’s the one. Look great. My dad’s Datsun Roadster has the same colour combo, same wheels too.
