Looks a lot like the U.K.s old Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2 from the 1980s.
The only really noticeable difference is the Aussie car looks like it got the rear from the windows and half the rear quarter glass from the U.K. hatchback and the tailgate of the saloon.

Vauxhall Cavalier was J-car platform which was our JB/JD/JE Camira
Commodore was V-car platform which was Vauxhall Senator.

I completely forgot about the early Senator A. I recall the Senator B quite well, though they never sold well but the police had a few of the Senator B s.
