I never really had any issues with them before, but I’m starting to understand the hate directed towards them.
Obey traffic laws: Under Pennsylvania law you are a considered a vehicle when you ride a bike. Ride on the right side of the road. Obey stop signs and red lights and never ride against the flow of traffic.
They rode right passed traffic, through an oncoming lane, then zipped right by me. I wish I hadn’t seen them in my mirror and bowled them over It’s a good thing I looked in my mirrors and saw them.

To be honest, from your video this seems like a gray area. I’m assuming you were signaling left, which puts them squarely in the wrong. BUT, if you were assumed to be going straight, what they did isn’t much different than a car that creeps up on a shoulder or drives in a bike lane to turn right beside a car going straight - and I see drivers do that daily.
Edited to add - I would have waited behind you on a bike, because I’m one of those cyclists who does anything to not piss off drivers. But I can see their possible reasoning here too.

agree... I hate lumping folks into a general stereotype - but we have a bunch up here that seem to actively promote unsafe “sharing the road” behavior. I give them as much space as I can - but if they are dodging through traffic, breaking traffic laws, blowing stop signs and red lights, etc there is only so much you can do...

I did have my signal on(you couldn’t tell from the drawing, haha), but they probably wouldn’t have noticed since they were never behind me.

Fair enough :)
I think some of the biggest problems for cyclists start with thinking too much from a car perspective, to be honest. You are used to being on a road in a vehicle. So, you think of yourself as larger, more visible, and more important than you actually are on a bike. not to mention cyclists who, when planning a route to get somewhere, go the most direct route - by vehicle (rather than parallel, lower traveled roads that would put them in a safer situation away from traffic).
Sometimes I think being an introvert who is constantly scanning for social clues makes me much safer and less irritating on a bike.

I think it’s crazy that someone would drive in the middle of the road in a vehicle without rear view mirrors. I know is common but I don’t get how it can be seen as normal. And when I see a bicyclist using headphones I think it’s just a crazy person trying to die.

Cyclists should stay right, except when they need to turn left. Drivers get pissy when we take the lane in order to turn left. I usually move to the left tire groove, but some cyclists move even further left so drivers who aren’t turning can pass them on the right. You were one of the few who decided to turn.
From their perspective, they were being polite and not holding up traffic even though, by law, they should have taken the lane to safely turn left.

I go to a park and ride just so I can wear headphones. I couldn’t imagine doing it on the street.

Great drawing! And here in NYC I have to deal with bicyclists coming TOWARDS traffic, try dealing with that on a one way street!
