I’m sorry but these rain physics are terrible. I understand that an F1 car caught in the rain is on slicks is like a turtle on an ice rink, but a stock S2000 on street tires can take a corner resembling a freeway on ramp at 70mph without skidding wildly. It’s like they didn’t go back after to see if what they did made sense for the base level cars. Also the brakes lock up way too quickly, you should have to have the left trigger fully depressed to engage ABS. The throw of the trigger is not representative of a real brake pedal.
Second, opponents car seems to miraculously have a boost of speed when needed on straights, either there is some KERS built into that stupid RX7, or there is some bullshit “catch-up” feature like there is in NFSS:U2 to keep things interesting.

Forza never will be a simulation... It’s a well made arcade game. Don’t expect much from it. It’s fun, just don’t expect it to be in anyway realistic.
Dry weather physics are just as fucked...It doesn’t make it less fun though.

I’ve not found the rain that bad myself but it’s their first shot at it so it was never going to be perfect

I’ve driven plenty of high horsepower cars in the rain, the problem is the reduction in front grip is typically not equal to rear grip. cars set up to be balance or oversteer-y in this game tend to push in the rain like crazy, when in real life the opposite is true, the ass end is going to walk around and make you look like a fool.

I mean besides collision and rain physics, i think they do a much better job of capturing what the car does on a real race track far better than Gran Turismo or iRacing, in my opinion.
Grand Prix Legends, GTR2 and rFactor were always my favorite sims from when I was into “hardcore sim” racers.

What are you on about? The physics are better than gran turismo. You sure you’re not play horizon 2?

lol
Yes it is better than Gran Turismo which is basically saying that Cholera is less problematic than AIDS... Both are fun games, none are simulation in anyway. As of right now, even the best simulations are far from perfect, but I can promise you than neither GT nor Forza deserve to be called Sims...

rFactor has lots of crap going on... Very few cars are somewhat good. iRacing transmission model is fucked up but transcribes somewhat well the cluster fuck that a slick tire really is.

One big thing I do with any car in the game is adjust the brake feel. You can mske it so you wont lock up as easily by just adjusting a slider

The rain and brakes are subjective so I’ll leave it at that.
As for the rocket powered RX7. The cars aren’t stock in Forza, you can modify the cars and so can the AI.
As for my complaints:
Horizon 2 has a points table for championships, why doesn’t Forza 6?
Why have they made is so much harder for people who think their Auto upgrade system sucks balls?
Crate engines are all well and good but I prefer the old system of swapping from the same manufacturer.
What happened to class racing?
Why is your car so quiet in cockpit view?

You can adjust the triggers on the controller. If you use the racing brake upgrade, you can also adjust the brake pressure and balance.

I’ve kinda thought the same about the brakes locking up too easily. You really need to kinda roll onto them, like touch the brakes and then slowly apply more. I tried using the ABS, but then the cars stop like a bus.

The only thing I leave on in Forza is ABS. I’ve noticed in Forza 6 that they’ve tried really hard to replicate the longer braking distances you’ll get with full ABS engagement too.
Otherwise, I can drive the E23 without assists... it is just way too hard.
Feather it till 6th gear, wait for a bit and then warp speed. :(

For some reason the default FM6 settings only let you use like 70% of the trigger pull, you can change it by going to options -> controller settings -> advanced settings and change your brake deadzones to 0 and 100. The difference is like night and day.
And iirc the whole ‘AI going crazy fast on the straights’ thing is some kind of bug they’ve been looking into going back to the launch of the game, not sure why they haven’t fixed it yet considering the head of T10 said it was a priority.
I have only two real complaints, one of which is actually the fault of the devs. The first is that the sound of the car’s engines: your car’s too quiet while the other cars are too loud, the Viper sounds like a V8, the Mercedes SLS GT3 sounds like a C300, GT350 sounds like a base V6, there’s a few others I can’t remember. For everythign the game does well you’d figure they could at the very least get the sounds right.
My main complaint (semi-related to your brake problem)is that the XB1 controllers are shit. Neither the sticks nor the triggers have any mechanical feedback or resistance so you’re constantly guessing as to how much input to make and what effect that will have on the car. It’s so bad I’m planning on buying a wheel and pedals just be able to drive semi-decently.

I find the rain a good diversion. I wish forza branched off into rally too like gt. Also had different tires.
I loved in gt3 supping up the cars. race, lose, tune, race again, tune some more race win, move to next race. and a little more focus on crappy older cars. shit what can I afford with 23,00 credits. Well a 98 miata with oil change, and some tires.
the only thing is I wish it had a little more flexibility. in multiple series at a time. Now one enters a series, gt, sport cars, spocam, etc and your racing with that for the next hour.

With reagard to rain, maybe. But I actually enjoy feeling like I’m driving on ice (being a bit cheeky). It does actually makes me focus and keeps it interesting. Same reason I enjoy the 60s F1 cars over most vehicles in the game. It’s damn challenging to do well and doesn’t get boring. The Eagle-Weslake T1G on rainy Spa is an experience.

there is some bullshit “catch-up” feature like there is in NFSS:U2 to keep things interesting
This shit finds its way into too many games. It’s such a flawed system. It means you can cut perfect laps and you won’t build a lead, ie. it doesn’t even matter how you drive. How is that interesting? It also means you can run a perfect race and lose due to a mistake on the last bend. Such bullshit.
Gran Turismo seems to have a different system, whereby cars you can’t see have their speed calculated rather than coming as a result of the actual AI. It means that cars behave differently when they’re out of sight which can be frustrating, but at least the game isn’t deliberately ruining your lead.

I have no idea what the rain physics are like because I get too frustrated after getting into an 18 car pile up on the first turn of every race.
