Received some wonderful news from my Insurance agent: the GLI was looked at, and as it sits, they estimate that it’s fixable! Oh hell yes!!!
Sure, the car’s been beaten up, and will never be the same, and is probably not as it was, but I love this car unconditionally, and I’m glad it’s getting fixed. Now, just gotta talk the parents in to keeping it awhile longer....

I was 14 in 1980. It’s interesting to hear the final strains of the disco era in this song. Disco wasn’t quite dead yet, but it was taking its last breaths. The 80s was an awesome decade.

Why do your parents want you to get rid of it?
And with 2 accidents it’s worth about as much as my ‘05 Focus, so if need be, we can do an even trade!

because my mom is superstitious, and she believes it's bad luck to keep a crashed car (something that's been a thing in my family since forever) plus, she wants me in something the size of a house for safety reasons (like a used touareg or something)

it appears that your Jetta is pretty safe judging from how well it held up.
It can probally outhandle a Toureag too

it’s a very safe car. also, both my collisions were relatively low speed, so the airbags didn’t even go off.
And I think it can outhandle a lot more than just a touareg ;)

Statistically speaking, you’re pretty safe from having any more accidents. And there’s no way your parents will be able to get rid of it, unless they want to eat a reduction of almost 50% of the original value.

supersticiously speaking, my car car’s bad luck.
And knowing my folks, they don't really mind losing money on stuff like this (my stepdad drove a GTI for 15K miles, lost $7k on it, and then bought a $55k touareg.)
