Complete hypothetical question here. You’re driving cross country across the USA and you can pick any car. Which would you choose? And let me emphasis that I don’t just mean the most comfortable cruiser within a budget. I mean any car. Ferrari F40? Morgan 3-Wheeler? Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6?
Maybe you do it for the fun, or for the experience, or maybe the stories. Money and time are not factors.
I personally pick a Ferrari Daytona. Just the right balance of comfort, speed, craziness, and class. What’s your pick?

V12 XJS. Because it will break down and then you can take the plane.

I’d have to go with the Mercedes 6x6. Because it’s crazy, fast, and I can take it offroad and camp my way across America.

Something that isn’t too hard but not too soft either. I’m old so comfort is a factor and of course it has to look good. I’m going Aston Martin DB9.

F-Type S with the manual if I’m travelling by myself or with a girl. E63 Wagon if I’m going with my buddies.

I’ll pretend the DB10 is actually available and take that. Damn you Bond, getting all the good shit.

I’ve been looking to do a cross country run in the SL for a long time.

does it need to be a car? cause I’d rather take my Griso... well maybe next spring... getting a little cool out for a cross country trip.

If not a motorcycle... then I'd choose an Original Dodge Power Wagon, with a camper on the back, and a rack for a motorcycle.. probably a KLR650 but would need to see what fits best.

Perhaps a Cadillac XLR-V or CTS-V coupe. If I’m driving across the United States I want to be something from something built in America. And those are the only two grand tourers that come to mind.

I think a 72 240Z all tuned up and made a bit more modern. Which is actually my plan some day...

Personally I think it’d have to be either a Skoda Superb Facelifted-Mk2 Outdoor with a 3.6 V6 (granted it’s an auto but hey). Large cavernous space, practical, great comfort, reliable, fast and 4x4. Great for all road conditions in most terrains.
Or something completely different with a VW Scirocco R 2.0TSi manual.
Just because, why not!

Straight-6 e39 dude. I’ve done it ten or so times, and a better roadtrip car there has never been.

Aston Martin Vanquish is good...
but here are some more... Ferrari 550 Maranello.
The newest, most fully-boat-loaded Porsche Carrera 4S, or Targa 4S possible.
Perhaps a McLaren 650S, (I’d even take an MP4-12C)
Or an Audi R8. Either V8 or V10, as long as it has a 6-speed manual.
If a Concept car is on the table... Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 would be the go-to.

I have places to be and things to do
See if the cannonball record can be done in less than 24 hours.
