Hello Fellow Opponauts,
I have a large collection of vintage car magazines and I sometimes browse through what I like to call the “Gearhead Archives”. I know there’s quite a few of you with a bigger collection, so why don’t you share it?
I remember once having a goal of archiving all of my magazines page by page onto a digital archive... that would take so much work though, so I simply gave up. However, I did get to archive most of my July 1967 Car And Driver magazine!
Here’s some of my favourite vintage ads..

I have one ads of these I pulled out of a magazine and love it.
And I have this 3 page ad for Plymouth and I love it because of the black dude with colorful pants. Also because Barracuda.

Came to post exactly those! I love those old Volvo adverts. I want a 740 Turbowagon so much because of them.

Used to have one w/ the 5 speed. Made it to 300K until my dad got tired of small things breaking and donated it to the local school system :(

Sounds like my 850. If I got tired of small things breaking there would be some really happy school kids in my area! The engine itself on these old Volvos seem to just chug along forever though.

Definitely! I remember the time by dad snapped the timing belt on the wagon and since it was one of the old non interference redblocks it was as simple as putting a new belt on and calling it a day...then the radiator started leaking...no a/c of course...heater didn’t so much work either...the interior was rather worn and the headliner was falling apart...still, at least it didn’t have the electrical issues that our 740 sedan had but it all added up...I guess it’s the price you pay for buying European!
