Here it is compared to the size of the amazing Samyang 35mm f/1.4 (which I am currently saving up for)! I have to say, it’s size is hilarious for a native mirrorless lens! The Samyang on the left was designed for a DSLR and thus has that big adaptor bolted to the bottom. I would think, with the smaller flange distance to the sensor, it wouldn’t be a large as it is.

Your DSLR is just having a prolonged erection.

Is that a 35mm f/1.4 or are you just happy to see me?

Really? I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. Why don’t you like it?

Mine looks different than that, its the cine version, but EF mount. 35 t1.5. The main reason is that its super soft from 1.5 to 2.8 and there is a magenta shift that happens there as well, I can’t use that lens unless Im stopped to 2.8 or more because of it.

I think you may of gotten a bad copy. All of the wide open pictures I’ve seen are pretty sharp! From what I hear samyang has pretty shitty quality control and about 1/4 of all their lenses are decentered. I would see about getting a return on it.

I thought that was a lens for their Alpha DSLRs - it must be weird attaching that monster to one of those small mirrorless cameras.
My fastest lens is that ubiquitous and cheap 50mm f1.8 from Nikon, although I wish I had the one with the built-in AF motor since my D40 can’t autofocus the old-style lenses.

You should get a DX 35mm 1.8! They’re only like $100 if I remember correctly and are brilliant lenses!

I remember looking for one previously but unless its AF-S it’s pointless. My D40 also needs a sensor cleaning and these two little plastic pieces to keep the excess part of the strap in place. It drives me mad not having those, and my camera was lent to my brother for a while and was returned with a filthy sensor and the strap taken off (which makes no sense to me) and the two plastic bits I need to prevent insanity were missing. I can’t see myself getting a new Nikon anytime soon - if anything, I’m going to get my D40 cleaned up and continue using it.
These days, I shoot with a Fuji X20. I wanted the X100 but couldn’t justify the price, but the X20 is compact and flexible enough where I can take very nice shots with it. F2.0-2.8 is pretty damn sweet on a camera with a 28mm-112mm zoom range.
