So, last night, I noticed a few problems with the debate. In particular, Christie and Trump seemed to have a contest going to see who could answer the fewest questions. (Christie answered his “biggest weakness” question by just insulting the Democratic candidates, and Trump explained that he would make Mexico pay for his wall by just doing it. No elaboration.) I’m sure there were a lot more incidents like this, just as I’m sure there were at the Democratic debates. And that’s why I propose this change: after the 60-second time limit is up, the candidate’s microphone cuts off. If they never answered the question, the sad trombone plays. If they keep whining about not having enough time, the podium squirts water at their face until they shut up. And if they’re just being a dick, the moderators can open a trap door below them.

The entire thing just seemed like them yelling at each other. And yeah. i thought about the microphone cut off as well. And what should the trap door open too. Like maybe an aquarium sort of deal with clear glass so you can see them flailing. I think you’re onto something

Honestly, I don’t like any candidate I’ve seen so far from any side. Montgomery Brewster had it right

I knew Trump wouldn’t answer the biggest weakness question. My prediction was that he would say he didn’t have one, though.

If they spend time thanking everyone and god blessing instead of answering the question, they get a pie to the face

Why can’t we just shoot them? Especially every one of the pompous, arrogant, power-crazy windbags trying to pander to the knuckle-dragging simpletons who make up the ultra-far right GOP base.
I’m no fan of Hillary either, but she clearly is capable of dealing with the duties of being President without acting like a petulant child when things don’t go the way she would like. I would most likely disagree with her decisions, but she would at least act like an adult if elected.
This country is so fucked. Can we just have the rapture already? Being rid of all the delusional religious wingnuts would let the rest of us work out our issues with rational discussion and compromise. And I say this as someone who grew up in the church. Faith I have no issue with. Religion makes me angry.

You’re starting to see desperation. There are a few leaders (Trump, Carson, Jeb), and the rest are resorting to crazier comments and antics in a desperate bid to stay alive. I didn’t watch it, but it seems to be the pattern of every election. No one has any interest in actually answering questions, just in getting in sound bites that will result in attention.
I will say I find it very interesting that of the three front runners, two have had zero political experience. Are we really supposed to vote for someone who has literally never cast a political vote in their lives? Regardless of your politics, I think we can probably all agree that the president should have some experience in government before getting the top job.

I generally don’t waste my time with watching the debates anymore. Moderators don’t moderate. Candidates don’t answer any questions. Nearly every response can be paraphrased to “I’m right, my opponent(s) wrong and I’m going to go off on a 3-5 minute tangent on a topic unrelated to the question and somehow never say anything of substance”.
Modern American politics are a joke and everyone but the candidates and those with deep wallets that fund those candidates lose.
