Took the truck on a nice little offroad ride along the river front, digging through several feet of mud, river rocks, sand, and in general, getting into all manner of trouble. All said, it was 6 and a half miles of unpaved, fresh after rain deep mud and rock.
The 4 wheel drive doesnt seem to be properly engaging, will have to double check this. Could be the infamous axle disconnector not doing its job. Its easily rebuilt or replaced. I also think I either popped the axle seals or the CVs. I’ll eyeball it after a hot powerwash and some time on the lift. Rear locker worked a treat.
Fuel economy is just around 15mpg, a mix of 75 highway and 25 city. I will do a full tuneup on the engine, oil and coolant again, and check both diffs. I THINK the throttlebody or VVT actuator are being troublesome. Both are easily resolved.

This kind of makes me miss our Trailblazer. But then I remember all I miss is the Atlas.

The 4l65E is pretty stout too! Just gotta take care of it. And the Atlas engines are SUUUPER picky about oil change intervals, you gotta stay on top of that.

I’ve got some bad news for you about the 4L65E, it’s the 60E. Ours shit the bed twice in 100k miles, and that was before my 16 year old(at the time) hands got behind the wheel.

Mine isnt, previous rebuild (I didnt do it) swapped 4l65e parts into the 4l60e. I pulled the trans and was going to give it a quickie fric and bearing rebuild, but It didnt need it. Noticed the 5 pinion planetary.

Any recent updates on this? I know I was very skeptical of this whole build (because I think the GMT360 is a POS), but am enjoying what you're doing with the truck and seeing what it can accomplish.

Nothing too serious. I fabricated a winch bumper for it, and outfitted it with a thule rack and lights. It’s currently sidelined, waiting for new front axles with better made, custom application front boots.
I took it to windrock park and it kept up with everyone until i punched the fuel tank. I pulled the sender and rigged it up inside a fuel can to limp to the campground. 65 bucks. That’s how much a used trailblazer fuel tank is. A whopping 65 bucks. I had it installed before dinner. The end of the day saw me pulling a rented uhual car hauler and one of my friends ~180 miles, after the same rock punched his tank and cracked his rear axle.
That damn trailblazer can tow :P
