Welcome everyone to the Cadillac SLS. A long wheelbase STS that looks rather excellent if you ask me.
Why wasn’t the SLS sold in the US? Maybe because Cadillac is stupid. Either way this SLS is one fine looking beast and I kinda want it.

The STS was quite a great looking car imo

You know what is funny? That gen STS is my favourite modern Cadillac.

One of the better applications of art and science I think

meh.
Yes please.

I wouldn't go that far but it is certainly underrated. 320hp from a N* V8 and relatively good reliability. I would say it is a great buy on the used market

Don’t tease me

That is not an S-Class competitor, in the same way a Lincoln Town Car L is not an S-Class competitor. You can’t just add rear legroom and then *poof* become an S-Class competitor.

Yes! These are such good looking cars!

the is the caddy we want. sidenote, a SLS is what I drove to my Prom, but it was this gen.
![]() 10/28/2015 at 16:03 |

Certainly better than the first two gens of CTS

I did not like mine. I much prefer my 5th Gen Seville over those. I had the RWD V8 model and never really clicked with it. I loved the looks, the interior was OK. the center console feels way to wide lots and they have big blind spots. Really the the package just never lived up to the expectations it offered. Sure it’s V8 and RWD but it doesn’t instill confidence to really get into it. it wasn’t very communicative in the corners and never really seemed super happy to be pushed. it wasn’t really what should have been the Northstars swan song. That LH2 was such a sweet engine, but limped by a crappy transmission and over intrusive nannies. the magnaride was tuned very harshly as well. When compared to the 4th Gen STS with magnaride and FWD I’d take the 4th gen over another one of those.

This has the tech to back up the execution. Adaptive cruise, HUD, mag ride, etc.

I think the LWB looks even better than the normal STS

I drove a Chrylser Sebring convertible. It was HAWT

So a heads-up display, radar cruise control and mag ride magically turns Gm assembly line workers into Mercedes employees using Mercedes parts? Not sure if I buy that :P

It is certainly the closest they have come to building a competitor. I am not saying it could beat a Mercedes but at least it competed in the same market segment.

I love my 5th gen SLS! I feel like I’m driving to prom every day!

I actually really liked that car, but its certainly outclassed these days. sure was fun at the time.

I’m not saying it is a good car, I just like it because it is not a blatantly obvious BMW copy.

The longer wheelbase really suits it. I’m a fan of the previous STS too, I think the ‘97-98s are fine looking cars.

Oh yeah, absolutely out classed if we are talking technology and features. personally i think the looks have aged really well, it’s just such a classic Design. It will give plenty of cars a good run for it’s money still too. That northstar is punchy and the side is great. it has none of the modern technologies though and build quality is.. well not good, especially on the interior.
I want to keep mine for ever though! I just wish I had some cash to really give it a good work over and back to showroom.

build quality, yeah...it wasn’t great. As for looks, you are right there. Its too bad they were very good drivers. I think they are fast and smooth and comfortable but dear lord the torque steer!
![]() 10/28/2015 at 16:30 |

Oh of course. Look wise they are wonderful. I was just let down by it is all. I think I’ll probably get another one if I can find one of those rare V8 AWD unicorns or the cash for a Vspec. I just I dunno.. I was let down by it i don’t think maybe I had the right mind set for the car or something. It just... wasn’t right.

Actually That’s one thing I never had much of an issue with. You need to turn TC off and try not to rev over 3 grand in a turn and You’re good haha. But that aside For a large(ish) FWD sedan they really were great drivers, way more nimble on their feet than they had any right to be.
![]() 10/28/2015 at 16:53 |

Lol if they sold it here no S-Class buyer would really consider it a real option tbh.

SLS wasn’t sold in the US because it wouldn’t pass US crash tests. China’s standards are pretty weak.

Don’t forget about the STS-V. Complete with the 469hp Northstar.

I agree!

I am not sure I agree

Really? I did not know that. Interesting

I mean that thing is on a totally different level

Not bad, I’m actually subtly impressed with that... China market only interior?
![]() 10/28/2015 at 20:41 |

Nope wherever the car was sold
![]() 10/29/2015 at 00:06 |

Yea, I believe Lutz said it a while back. Sigma didn’t stretch that well which is why it was dropped for Omega and Alpha
![]() 10/29/2015 at 00:08 |

Which was only in China
![]() 10/29/2015 at 08:41 |

I mean, compete is a strong word here :P
![]() 10/29/2015 at 10:43 |

I will stand by it too. Look elsewhere in the comments the back seat in this thing is awesome

It’s got a console which is pretty cool, but I can’t see anything else to write home about.
