The guys on beer advocate didn’t really like it but I did. I drank this stuff almost every night while I was in Japan. Was it the best beer in the world? No, but I did enjoy drinking it.

Not really needed... It’s a pretty shitty beer

Try CVS. I found it at mine, though there are better choices.

No point. The Bud/Coors/Miller guys will drink Bud/Coors/Miller, and the craft beer guys won’t give a shit about the Japanese equivalent of Bud/Coors/Miller. Wouldn’t sell.

It’s not a good beer. I also have seen it at several grocery stores, liquor stores, asian supermarkets, and every Japanese restaurant. I doubt you will have much trouble finding it.
Are you just trying to be a beer hipster?

But it’s a shitty beer I like! Objectively the crown victoria is a pretty shitty car, but we all love it.

Where do you live? This is available all over the place in California.

I don’t. There’s nothing to like about a shitty overweight, albeit durable BOF car for me

Nah, If I were trying to be a beer hipster I would be talking about something rated higher on beer advocate. That said if someone wants to give me free IPAs they’re more than welcome to!

Well it is a shitty car, that said, it’s a very smooth shitty car.

A light pilsner type? Like a PBR or Rainier but less sweet maybe?
![]() 10/27/2015 at 23:59 |

It is, but with a ricey taste due to it being a Japanese rice lager.

It’s very drinkable. I’ll take an Asahi over a watery american pilsner every time.

My local CVS drug store carries it. Maybe give that a shot? If that doesn’t work, your local Japantown should have a six-pack ready to go in the fridge section.

Just returned from Japan, and it seemed like Asahi was just about everywhere we went. Not my favorite beer perhaps, but now it really has so many good memories associated with it.
All that said, I really did like the Asahi Black, and enjoy Sapporo when I run into it.

It’s pretty easy to get over here. I see it all over the place.

All the people up in here saying it’s a shitty beer have clearly never tried Asahi Kuronama (dark beer)
It’s fantastic.

Nothing wrong with crappy beers. One beer I’ve grown to love that beer affectionados absolutely hate is Red Horse from the Philippines. This stuff is effective @ 9% alcohol, 2 beers I feel pretty good, 3 beers I’m flat out hammered. Considering they come in slightly bigger bottles than american beers I did the math and 1 of these is the same as drinking 2.5 coronas

Just looked it up and they sell it in all forms in Edmonton AB you can even buy it buy the Keg in 3 stores. Sort of odd since we don’t have a lot Japanese people around here mostly chinese and koreans.
I’m gonna have to pick up a 6 pack and give it a whirl.

Beer snobbery was fun when no one else did it, but now too many people do and it’s no fun. I used to be the one that pointed out everything wrong with your beer and why mine was better - fuck that. Most mass-produced stuff is pretty similar anyway, and there are plenty of “craft beers” that aren’t necessarily that great anyway. These are sweeping generalizations, but if you like your beer, drink it and fuck everyone else’s sense of taste.
It shouldn’t be too difficult to find since it is a fairly popular beer - I’d imagine any place that stocks Sapporo would have this as well.

I do have several asian food stores near my house but I don’t know if any of them carry beer. I’ll have to see.
