With only $10,000 and the change between your seat cushion, you can lease a brand new Granturismo Sport for only $1,799 a month for 36 months! Whaaaat?! That’s right, Maserati is letting you walk out the door with the lowest available trim level for US Masie GTs (assuming your credit is remarkable, which of course it is). Someone must have gone to prison because this deal is an absolute steal!!

Won’t lie, if I were making $6K a month and living the same single life I am now (but different job and if there were Maserati dealerships in this state), I’d at least think it over.

Haha my first thought was, “gee that’s actually a pretty great deal when you consider what you’re getting.” Then I read your second paragraph and that’s basically me when I start my new job Monday.

I’d live in a used UHAUL truck just so I could afford that.

Hm. I could have this car for 3 months before I go bankrupt.

Not calculating in whatever process fees or paperwork whatever because I don’t know how any of that works for a lease, the cost of driving that vehicle for 36 months comes out to $74,808. That’s about $31,000 the first year, and $21,000 in each of the last two years. If you were making $6,000 a month, or a salary of $72,000, it would still be very difficult to justify such a lease.

Or you could wait a few years and buy it outright for like, 17 dollars. The depreciation on Maseratis is incredible.

Best part is you could start a blog and use that money to pay for the car!

Which is how you know it is exactly the amount most people are probably making when they lease these things. In middle class US, just getting by is still getting ahead.

It’s the kind of income where you could save $25,000 *a year* on a car decision alone, but choose not to.

But it is very different spending $3,000 on tires every 12,000 miles for a car that cost you $170,000 and spending that $3,000 on a car that cost you $30,000.

Maserati, Uhaul, Uber, blogging...I think there is a legitimate business in here somewhere.

I was just thinking that; if I were making $6k/month I’d lease something much more modest. If you’re just showing off, most people will think you’re doing fine if you’re in one of the big three German marques, anyway. If you really care about driving, a Cayman or Boxster would probably make more sense.
