I can never own an expensive watch. I’d be paranoid about it getting scratched.

This one is from the 70’s so I must imagine it is already pretty scratched.

Not a fan of Rolex in general but that one looks nice

What do you like most about it?

1972 Rolex Oyster Precision, perfectly sized at 34mm and pretty good price for a vintage Rolex.

I have an Omega Speedmaster and a custom designed bronze watch. The glass is a sapphire crystal and VERY hard to scratch. The metal can get scratched, but still difficult unless you are juggling screwdrivers and clawhammers. My Omega is 10 years old and has very few marks and the bronze watch only has patina marks.

The band on the watches will scratch the most, but that is easily replaced. Omega has a ‘cleaning’ service. It costs like $150, they clean the interior of the watch, replace O rings and the band.

Yeah, I like watches and cars. I think I am at the right place.

The size and proportions, it looks clean and stately and at 34 the size is perfect. It also has the Rolex niceness: the weight and quality.

You own a speedy too? My daily wearer is a Mk 4.5.

Patina is always nice, I don’t really see them as scratches unless pieces were gouged out.

Holy crap you can buy these for $1,000? A simple dress watch too. I might be in love.

I get that. It’s also understated. My uncle has one of those huge, gold, diamond-studded Rolexes made specifically to tell the world you can afford a Rolex. Not me. I am most happy knowing I have a well-made, precision time piece on my arm that will make me smile every time I look at it and won’t explode if I accidentally take a shower with it on or something.

Nah, not $1000, this one is around $2000 but in the great scheme of Rolex things, that is a good price.

You’re the second person in a week to post about their Rolex. Looks like opponauts are doing well!

Love the simplicity of this watch - three hands, plain face and simple markers, and that brushed steel look will go with pretty much anything.

Nice to see other watch lovers on oppo - I guess car nuts just like mechanical things in general.

Actually, I take that back. I was talking about Speedmaster to a coworker, but I have a Seamaster the 2004 blue one. Misspoke.

Patina is good as long as it covers completely, this one has a few areas that seems like it won’t fill in. So the watch is golden in some areas and dark in others. Debating if I want to get it polished out again or keep the patina.

I have seen some on eBay for less. Maybe they are the watches that need a lot of love and care though.

Maybe not, this one has the complete kit, box and all. These are probably less complete, but that’s like buying an old car without it’s manual or spare key.

Not mine yet, but Oppo indeed has a lot of watch lovers, mechanical things are still mechanical things no matter how small or complex.

That’s a nice price for an auto watch, but I’d also take a lot at some of the Indie watch manufacturers.
