Suppose it's time for new tires.

I ordered Dunlop Direzzas from Tirerack.com. The reviews looked good. Anyone have experience with those tires? Also does anyone know if the installer calls you when they arrive or if I just track the order and call the installer when they arrive?

You’re not playing around, are you?

Briefly had a set on my STI. They’re sticky as shit, that’s for sure.

My dad had em on his AMG. Star Specs, from what I recall. Sticky, good in wet, noisy as hell.

They were the winner of some magazines budget tire shootout a few years ago (road and track) I think.

plenty of life left in those, I can still see the worm tracks. Swap lefts and rights... or go reverse camber on your stance and smoke 'em like you stole 'em.

Unfortunately they’re not unidirectional. I’m running a staggered set up. They lasted a couple years so I’m not going to complain for summer tires.

Star Spec IIs? There are several series of Direzzas but those are what I have on my track Miata. Pretty good tire for the price. They are a 200 tread wear rating and are fairly sticky. You will definitely pick up any debris on the road and fling it about. They are predictable and only start to protest when at the limits of grip making them easy to drive on. Probably my greatest surprise was how well they handled the wet for a performance tire.

I haven’t put many miles on them on the street, but I did notice they have become quite noisy. Of course, there are literally melted clumps of rubber hanging on from the last track day. Wear-wise they seem pretty good...I’ve had 5-6 hard track days on them and still have lots of tread, though the outside corner of each is starting to look pretty tired.

They’re Direzzas DZ102 according to the order confirmation.

Ah. Then maybe ignore everything I said. They are a much harder compound and probably will be much better for street driving.

Unmount tires, remount on other side of car. I’ve had to do it plenty of times due to worn insides.
