I emailed the guy last night and this is what he sent back. I do have a friend of a friend that can weld but I’m not sure if this is something to get into. I also asked about other anticipated repiars and this is what I got :
“The knuckles will have to be resealed, oil gasket will need to be replaced, engine tune up. I have a new exhaust to put on it, which I’ll have completed this week. Other than that, its solid.”
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
then there is this guy:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
but I feel like that could be a money pit by just being a Range Rover.

This is fucked. You would need to replace the frame rails and the spring perch/mount. I wouldn’t even drive this.

That’s about as “nope” as an 80s Toyota gets. I hate to CP an old Toyota truck, but $5500 on one where the rust monster bit that hard? Nope.

I wouldn’t even finish it off through jumps, that’s how bad it is.

Nice price... for $56.00. It’s dead.

Unless you're getting a new frame, don't do it.

Properly repairing that frame would mean taking the body off... way more time and money than that thing is worth.

This is not what I would consider ‘solid’.

That looks worse than the 85 FJ i just had to sell because the frame was smoked. Like party said, pass on it. As much as I love FJ’s, any example you find less than 5-6 grand is going to be pretty well fucked in the rear of the frame (90% probability or so)

If it were a Rover or something else British, you’d shrug and either say “frame welding time” or order a whole new frame for $3k. Thus the advantages (sort of) of things with idiotic sheet steel frames in the first place. Something with a carbon steel frame?

The second one, Range Rover P38s aren’t too bad, and a bunch of the issues with the big-bore engines are fixed by then. Also, it’s a 4.6, not a 4.9, unless something very screwy is going on. Could it still be a money pit just from being a Rangie? Absolutely.

Don’t. And, although cool, you’ll run into just as many issues with the Rover of the Range.

Yeah, this isn’t safe for the road and unless you have a spare frame lying around, not worth the effort either. That’s horrible, and I have a decent tolerance for rust from living the northern Midwest.
