Vans are not wagons.

It’s clearly a wagon. This is a van.

No, but we’re far enough removed from the late 80s and 90s for vans to be cool again. People talk about vans the way people used to talk about wagons. Crossovers are the new putridmobiles.

Vans are still cooler than anything CUV, most things SUV, all Shooting Brakes, Convertibles based on hatchbacks, 2+2 E-Types, V6 Mustangs, R34 Skyline GT-Rs etc etc.

Everything old is new again.
The CUV concept has brought back cargo versatility, but the hinged doors, and high floor are still packaging issues for interior volume.
For efficiency, and on-road use, a lower floor is fine, to an extent... which can either allow a lower roofline and drag, or a larger interior volume for the same roof height. A sliding door is also much more space efficient.
I was wondering the other day... why do extended and club/super cab trucks have the rear doors on hinges? The half-reverse doors on extended cabs are a nightmare in parking spaces.
Why don’t they articulate back along the side, somewhat like a van cargo side door?
Dodge did a Rampage concept that way a few years ago...
Subaru is adapting it, too, on their series of VIZIV concepts, VIZIV 2 (bottom) and VIZIV Future (below)

Citroen C-SportLounge Concept, from 2005...
I would drive something like that, if it were somewhat fast, not lethargic on response, or wallowing in terms of handling, and with AWD all-season traction. Although it would probably need a permanently-on reverse view camera, with that rear window line.
