My grandfather built those halftracks at the Studebaker plant during WWII, he was 4f, the day he was rejected for military service they were calling him to come build trucks. He already had a job Managing the local chain 5&10 store. So he worked 2 jobs and by the end of the war he made enough money to buy his own 5&10 store instead of managing them.

A time of opportunity! It made a hell of a noise and he used the siren when he drove off

I want to do one wheel peels and donuts in the el camino. For America.
Malaise era emission restricted power house.

I think what helped him save enough to pay cash for his house and store was the fact that you couldn’t buy anything during WWII

I love referring to it as the mayonnaise era.

Oh wow! They couldn’t get gas or meat or much flour/sugar/butter either. We’re so spoiled these days, we have no idea what that generation went through.

I found the sugar ration cards in there as well, there was one for him, my grandmother, and my father who was 2 years old. They were allowed 2lbs a month each so 6lbs for the family, now that may sound like a lot but when cooking everything from scratch it is not. They were allowed double that amount for canning in September and October.
Of course a young family in the midwest of the US had it easy compared to what the citizens of the UK wnet through.

Never mind the brown thing, there’s a Hyundai i10! Exciting times. I drove a lap of Iceland in one.

You can tell from that angle? The side view is almost the same.

slightly less angle on the upsweep on the door. Also, I took the pic.

What I took away from my i10 was that it was the most sparsely equipped car I’ve driven in years. Windy-up windows? Yes. Door mirrors only adjustable by opening the door? Yes. Manual locks? Yes. Intermittent wipe? No. That was what irritated me the most.

I bet they only had two speeds on the wiper too.
