1969 Chrysler Newport Custom

Cost when new: $3,563
Inflation Adjusted: $23,100

Use this handy !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to adjust for US inflation and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for CDN inflation.

Amazing that in 1969, $23k bought you 18.5 feet of big-block-powered luxury car. $23k today doesn’t even buy you a V6 Chrysler 300.

I am great at this game since I just got my car new two weeks ago, ha.

Kinja'd!!!

I didn’t pay MSRP, though. I got it for $100.00 over invoice. And got $5,500.00 for my trade-in. So, my loan amount (with tax) was $20,000.

Nice! Those 6’s are great cars. Especially in that crazy “soul red” metallic paint.

I don't know the exact price, but it was north of $40,000 in 1998. I'll just say $43k. It would be $62,770 today.

I don’t have a sticker or build sheet but a base model of my car sold for about $39,000 in 2000. The options mine has probably puts it up around $45-50k, or $62-69k in 2015 money.

Jaguar XJS: $47,000 in 1989, $79,017.

If the Datsun was in perfect shape, you could probably get that price for it today, not so sure about the Jaguar though, haha.

In 1991 my Galant VR-4 sold for 22-23,000 MSRP. So 38-40,000 in todays dollars. About what you’d pay for a modern AWD turbo 4, 4 door sedan/hatchback.

So basically this

Kinja'd!!!

costs the same as this.

Kinja'd!!!

Also a 91 Eclipse GXS cost about 30,000 in todays money. So you paid 8,000 dollars for two more doors, 4 wheel steering, and the privileged of having a limited edition. I would have just bout the Eclipse.
