7:15 AM. Incoming manager says the car has been there since at least 7pm yesterday. So, 12 hours idling?
I took some pictures. Glare sucks, but it’s legible (though, uploading upside down it appears. maybe they’ll right themselves):

Holy crap, this is why I specifically got a Nissan without the “Intelligent Key”, other than that it was the only way to get a manual.

To be fair, that’s a pretty economical idle! 12+ hours!

Probably a rental car.

You guys can't locate the person at the hotel by the license plate number or anything? I guess it's only like a $30 mistake for the person who left it running but still...

Definitely a rental. Nevada plates with Barcode stickers on the windows.

It’s a rental. And, yea, price of stupidity. Not even $30. Quarter tank in that thing should be like $15 round these parts.

Ah ok. I should have figured it could be a rental if they’re at a hotel!

I think I would have called the police by now to see if they could find the owner/renter.

It’s a rental in a hotel parking lot. Car is locked, and still has 3/4 tank (after running for over 12 hours). Owner is most likely checking out, or at least using the vehicle, today. They’ll just learn a $15 lesson.

Right, and I’m guessing that if they knew that hotel staff had known for over 12 hours that the car was running, they’d appreciate the staff at least trying to find them. I know I would.

True. Really not much to go on, unfortunately. We could probably get the rental company from the license plate, but being late at night on a weekend, it’s doubtful we could have reached anyone. Even if we did, most places can’t just give out customer information (i.e., who’s renting it), let alone their contact info. Maybe the rental company could have tried calling them, but again — late at night. Now, if the car had been broken into or something, I would have contacted the police and the rental company. But leaving it locked and running? They’ve lost a quarter tank of gas. They’ll manage.

I’m just glad to see that my wife isn’t the only one that does this. Her record is 12 hours with her former ‘99 RX300 (which quite honestly was a mini tank). The current ‘12 Outback record is only 2 hours. Both were unlocked while running... mind you. SMMFH

Ah, at least these people locked up!
My guess is, some “older” guest doesn’t know how to use a push button. It idles so quietly / smoothly, you pretty much have to look at the tach to know it’s running. Gets out, hits lock on the FOB, goes inside and to sleep. By now I’m sure they’re up / discovered their mistake. I was off at 7.
