And holy shit that’s the first time I ever spelled that correctly on the first try.

I mean, it’s a less-functional house that floats on water. Why not get a house that floats on land?

Same with RVs. If you want to experience the great outdoors, don’t take your whole house with you! I used to go camping with an Acura and a tent. That’s all you need.

It’s a house that can go to Monaco.

This doesn’t seem enjoyable.

With a yacht I can travel up the east coast from my mansion in Florida. I get to experience the open sea and enjoy the sights of the the American coast line from a stunning and classical vantage point

Like all things; its a balance. Too much RV/Yacht doesn’t make sense to me, but a little of each is nice.

Kinja'd!!!

This is just right to me.

Lots of the world is water...it turns out

Whenever I see a Yacht, I see a nice, big target for my bag of tomatoes.

Now that I am older I get RVs. I can live with just a tent and basic stuff but the family would not. Plus its nice to not have to rough it all the time. I would love to travel via RV and not have to deal with bathroom stops, tried cranky hungry kids or having to pack and unpack everything from car to hotel room.

the image links to a Bristol 35, but the link doesn’t follow so I’m not sure. The idea being a nice 35 footer is just right.

I would never own a yacht. Not my style at all. A Chris Craft on the other hand...

Specifically a post-war 25’ Sportsman because we have one in my family and I’m incredibly biased because of it.

A yacht wasn’t my thing till I spent a week on a 22 foot racing yacht. The first couple of days were erratic trying to learn what you did here and what you did there but after that it was more relaxed (we weren’t racing, just taking the boat out) and things just gelled and became second nature straight away.

Small yachts and small campers are one thing but when it comes to massive multimillion pound yachts and RVs that’s when it gets a little crazy.

bingo - its a family affair. I’m happy roughing it, but I’m not immune to comfort if it means I don’t have to sacrifice mobility. Plus life is significantly better when you have basic comforts if you are camping with young kids.

I like camping in a camper so I can have a shitter, and if it’s hot I want AC so I can sleep. No TV or any of that bullshit though. I’m going camping to be outside and have a campfire, not to watch TV in a different place.

Must be a retrofit. I’d love to say I love sailboats, but I really do like the little fibreglass jobbies. If I could have a Fairline Targa 38 without the silly flybridge, that’d do me just fine.

The brilliance of a yacht is that you’re just a passenger.

For me, it’s mostly just a love of boats and something more basic and reptilian, but on the rational side, you can’t take your house down the coast, or to an island, or (if your yacht is capable of it) to other continents. Granted a lot of the megayachts rarely leave their dock or if they do, are brought to wherever the owner is flying to so they can have a party on it or something.

Lifestyles of the rich... A good sized yacht is a place you can live in, but take out on the water and to exotic locations, but still live in some luxury (or at least a nice dry house).

A cheap boat can be had, it’s not the same though. Something barebones is nice to go out fishing in. There’s something about being on open water that frees a person’s spirit, or mind, or something.

Fuck it. I’m not a “yacht guy”, but I know that when I hit the Megamillions I’m buying a Wally 118. I’ll be a “yacht guy” then and it will be the baddest looking yacht known to man.

Ah, but you’re posing a logical question to a largely emotional issue. There are far more practical things to do with money other than buy a boat (or RV or second house or whatever) of any kind.

Besides, you don’t want to be the only one at the yacht club without a yacht...

That’s a good size. If you get too large, you wind up spending too much time on maintenance (sort of like buying too much house, only it deteriourates faster and screws cost $10 to replace...)
