Acura 1.6EL, only sold in Canada. Replaced by the also Canada-only CSX, then the ILX

The EL and CSX were actually pretty damn successful up here, and they’re actually quite nice cars for the price.

Honda Domami, Isuzu Gemini, Acura EL 1.6. the car was just a 96-00 Civic with a sharper look, and taillights that look like the Accord’s did at the time. It was sold under different names in different markets, but in Canada it was sold as the an Acura. Sort of a step up from a Civic EX, but a step down from an Integra.

For a while Domani/Gemini/El front end swaps were all the rage. This one even has an Isuzu badge

The interior is also a bit different.

The name actually went on for another generation

01-05 EL 1.7 (because like the Civic the D16y8 was replaced with the D17a2 which I still beleive was a down grade)

then it was replace with the CSX, same Idea updated naming.

There are still some sharp looking ones around today, they sell used for a bit less than a Civic and take the same parts. Usually they were bought by grey-hairs and haven’t been riced too hard.

I’m working on a black Civic Si (6th Gen coupe) that I have plans to “Domani” swap the front end, and upscale the interior. (just got seats and an EL steering wheel).
