Since I post way too much music-related stuff for a car site, let’s have some fun today.
Here is a local CL listing for a 2000 Lincoln LS. The engine is blown and the guy is letting it go for a song. $500 is the asking price.

So what would you put in it? What even fits? A new 5.0L? A Jag 4.2L SC from an R? What? Go go Oppo ridiculousness.

Well, this guy crammed a 4.6L in it + a supercharger.

I think I’d put a Coyote 5.0 motor instead though, it’s actually the same width or a little skinnier depending on which generation of 4.6L it is.

buy a used 4.6 for cheap then rebuild it with all the performance goodies I could afford. Jam it in the LS with a subtle exhaust and 500hp.

According to local junk yards, a complete 5.0L Supercharged Jag engine from an XF with 30k to 45k miles is around $6000, or about $1000 more than the non-blown version.
$3800 for the S/C 4.2L from the big Jags, tested, with the same mileage

Does Ford sell the new 5.0L V8 as a crate engine? If so, then that. This is the kind of car I’d want to turn into some sort of beast, despite the fact that it’s supposed to be a comfortable cruiser. No one would expect this thing to go quick at first glance, but the current V8 in the Mustang GT would be a good start.
If you could manage it, it would be hilarious if you could find a Viper engine or something else that would be really, really out of place on this vehicle.

It’s been said, but I’d go with a 4.2L or 5.0L Jaguar engine, either N/A with 385hp or Supercharged with 420/550. Not sure the supercharged versions would fit under that hood though.
The Coyote would be a good subsitute, but probably require more custom work to make functional.

(Might require some extra parts, bits, and doodads. Also recommend installing a Turbo Encabulator. )
