DD Vette

Museum the weirdo.

And for you uneducated ones The first T-Birds, aka little birds, were built and designed to run with the Vette. And they did. They just took it in a different direction after the first generations and moved onto big ones.

Unless it’s one of the few Paxton blown T-birds, I’d rather have the Vette on the weekend. SBC > Y-block, and Vettes were common with sticks. T-birds seemed to all have automatics. Hell, the Powerglide wasn’t much worse than the Borg Warner Ford used, because the B-W design only used first when shifted manually into L.

I’d DD the Studebaker, because they had some semblance of interior room and Golden Hawks came with the Packard 352 or a blower strapped to the Studebaker 289.

*EDIT* The blower manufacturer might still have been McCulloch back then - the Paxton name came around in 1958 after McCulloch sold off the supercharger division, but I don’t know when the the McCulloch name went out of use.

Agreed. But at least if you DD it, you don’t have to look at it much! I think the ‘formal’ roofline of the later Grand Turismo Hawks was an improvement, if only because it removed some of the crazy lines.

Hey Ramblin I have some bad news. My dad talked to one of his friends into looking at the car and they are looking at it after work. The guy was willing to pay the $1200 and apparently he is serious. I will let you know if something changes. I told him you wanted to look at it but my uncle wants it gone and my dad said if this guy is serious it is his for $1200. I’ll keep you up to date.

Not a problem. I’ve been aware from the beginning this was neither your circus nor your monkeys, so to say, otherwise you might not have been selling! At least a “one of my dad’s friends” carries with it somewhat less likelihood of being parted out, half-ass rodded, or scrapped, and you might actually get to see it running. I’m also aware I’ve let myself get invested in outcome (SAVE TEH LINKERNS) more than I probably should, but eh.

I will say this: the whole pretty-much-biggest-back-seat ever and some other features of the design have grown on me, and I’ve become convinced that it is probably one of the best Route 66 roadtrip ships imaginable for over two people. I’m going to need to get *something* like this - I gots teh barge itch.

Kinja'd!!! JR1 > RamblinRover Luxury-Yacht

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah it isn’t exactly my show. I would likely be keeping it otherwise. But once you get the itch for a big barge it is hard to let it go. If this guy does buy it maybe it is an opportunity to get a bathtub Packard.

I am more of a Ford guy, the Corvette is my 1 guaranteed team changer though. The little T-Bird is the last time Ford had a direct competitor to the Corvette. After that they’ve had cars “above it” with the GT and cars below it with high powered or track focused Mustangs, but the Vette’s kind of been on it’s own and I’ve always liked it better than the Viper.

I’m a pretty crazy Corvette fan despite my love of Ford

*freaks out at stuck door* = WAT. I can understand people spooking on the floorboards, but the DOOR? I.. it... what? Stuck from sill rust, sticky hinges, glued-in-place rotten door seal, failed latch... I can’t think of a single thing that would make a door stuck other than unibody collapse (which looks a long way off to me) that would be more than an afternoon of worry. And that’s easy to test - lift up at the sill under the B-pillar and/or post, see if the door comes loose. Simple. There’s an International Loadstar on our property with door issues, but it sure as hell ain’t body shift related, because ‘67 five ton truck.

What I’d been contemplating, actually, is getting rolling out of here early-early on Saturday, thus to arrive middayish on Saturday, spend an hour or so, get back on the road an hour or so to Dayton, spend an hour and a half or so at the museum, and then drive the seven hours back. Hell of a day driving-wise, but doesn’t make me have to lodge anywhere and limits me to just one day. #RedBull for any necessary oomph required.

The only trick, and what I’ve just checked, is that Wells Fargo doesn’t have any branch locations in Columbus AT ALL. Apparently I will need to make a bank visit before the trip, hurr durr.

There’s a couple of questions I will ask in a moment via e-mail that will help me figure things out further.

Ok it sounds like a pretty good plan to me. Wells Fargo is not located in central Ohio that I am aware of. From Hebron a trip to Dayton will take about an hour and half I would venture to guess. I sent you a response via email with your questions.
