Seeing as Yamahog is on a super top secret work assignment for the week and the temperature is dropping faster that VW stock, I decided to put the winter wheels and tires (not snow tires) on the Camaro as we get set for its wintery slumber.

And here are the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G2’s stacked up in the basement. We didn’t want to develop flat spots on the tires, or worry about them cracking in the cold.

Anyone have any tips for storing tires over the winter. Should I put card board or something in between the wheels?

You could put cardboard between them, but it really doesn’t matter much. If you’re only storing them over winter, there is very little that will happen.

Air them down halfway and put them in trash bags. Store them on their sides, or if you can, bolt a pipe to the wall and hang the wheels on there through the spokes.

Is it that time already? It snowed in the UP but I thought we still had a little longer before it was time for winter tires

Modern tires really don’t need anything crazy, especially since it’s just for a few months.

The only thing I would say is don't put them directly under a heat vent.

The basement stays relatively chilly in the winter. i just wanted to get them off the ground. I'll cover them with a moving blanket once i clean up the garage.

2 pieces of hardwood from an old bedframe per wheel

Kinja'd!!!

4 long bolts and four winged nuts, maybe some metal band to keep the legs from accidentally spreading

Et voila!

I don’t have winter wheels for my Camaro, so I will just pump the tyres up to 3,5 atm and that’s it. Forum says that’ll be ok. Them tyres are almost done anyway ...

I have a seasonal registration from March to October. Hard times are coming — until next March 1st.

As long as chilly is above freezing, they really will be fine. My friends with a racing slick company keep their stock around 60 all winter, which seems chilly to us, but is fine for tires.

I picked up a dirt cheap rack from Canuckistan Tyre that keeps them stacked and separate. Goes through the hub hole. It is wobbly and flimsy when you roll it but for something that you shove in a corner with snows or summers? Works great. I dont know what the Yankee equivalent of CT is. If they are on rims, do not store them on the treads! They flat spot and settle strangely I have been told.
