Reminds me of the one lady on “The Lottery Changed My Life” show. She lived in a trailer with a long washed out dirt driveway, had 4 wheelers, 15 chihuahuas, etc. She bought a Lamborghini but, didn’t want to “change who she was”, and stayed in her trailer. She didn’t use any money to build a garage, or pave the driveway. So she navigates thecwasged out driveway everyday in a Lambo with 3 inches of ground clearance, parked it outside everyday, etc.

It doesn’t harm your lungs, or make you smell like cigarettes do. Both have their risks though. Growing up we had a neighbor that dipped throughout high school. He ended up getting cancer in his jaw, and it spread to his brain. He died at 22 from it.

Then there’s my grandpa who lived on his own till 2 days before his death at age 84. He smoked 3 packs of UNFILTERED cigarettes a day, and was an alcoholic. God I hope I have his genes.

If you can quit now do it. I’m in my 40s and even at 5-10 a day I can feel it. I walk my Dog 1.5 miles a day and he wants more, I just can’t give it yet.

Same boat. The Patch doesn’t quite do it for me either. Even if you do quit certain circumstances bring you back quickly.

Never tried the patch, I did try to quit it completely for two weeks, got grumpy, started to gain more weight and just ultimately felt worse, not going to try that again for a while.

“Cold Turkey” got me 35lbs and a few less friends for a while. The patch doesn’t help with the grumpy or the eating either. You just change addictions.

I want to try the pill but the side effects are frightening.

I currently have two friends that are trying the patch, I’ll see how that works for them, but for now I’m going to keep smoking. Every single person in my family quit smoking when they had a kid, real incentive is all we need, maybe then I will be able to.

I think genes play the biggest part. Lot’s of people who never smoke or have never been exposed to 2nd hand smoke get lung cancer too. I grew up in a house with both parents smoking inside, as well as in the car. I figure if I quit now it’s not going to lower my odds THAT much. I should still quit, but I could be killed in a car wreck tomorrow, and it wouldn’t have mattered anyway. Well except for being an eligible organ donor.
