After our first sighting of snow yesterday, it was around 25*F when I left for work today, and the cars were all frosted over, at least the front and rear windows. I hopped in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , because it warms up quickly and my BRZ doesn’t, and because the BRZ’s Michelin Pilot Super Sports would probably grip the road about as well as hockey pucks in the cold. I still need to get the snow tires on the Focus, too, but its no-name all-seasons would be adequate on cold but dry roads.
Then I realized that this car is new to me, and I have no idea where or even if an ice scraper may exist. I turned on the rear window defroster, and sprayed the windshield washer to soften it up a bit. It did a lot more than that - the frost started to come right off, and I noticed an orange tint to the washer fluid. My fiancee, the previous owner, had been using Rain-X de-icer in this old thing. Yes!!!
This one’s a keeper.

Can get quite annoying on cold mornings like today.
