AMA.
It looked like this one, pearl white Club with all the standard Club stuff.
Here are the basics- sticker price was $26,000. Edit: $29,000 ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ) Salesman said they can usually drop about 1-2k off MSRP. He also said they ended up selling the Launch Edition to a guy for $10k over sticker, which is nuts.
It had 8 miles when we left, 12 miles when we got back. I test drove at Hubler Mazda on US 31 in Greenwood, and the salesman was pretty cool in regards to the whole ‘test driving a car you aren’t planning on buying’ thing. To be fair, it was about 11AM on a Monday. Not exactly prime time. I was pretty much the only customer there.
The exhaust sounds fantastic and very solid and punchy, they really nailed the ‘sports car’ sound.
It looks really, really, really good in person. Much better than in pictures. I love how the white pearl body color is on the door panels in the interior, as well.
It seemed like it was begging you to hit the limiter. The shifter and clutch were solid. It actually felt like my dad’s 6-speed in his NB, though the clutch was a lot easier to drive smoothly. It also either had hill-start assist, or it was really resistant to rolling back, which was nice.\
The seats are very comfortable, and I was able to fit very well with quite a bit of room to move around. It didn’t feel very cramped. Here’s a comparison you won’t see every day - it had more interior space than an F-Type.
Two complaints -
1) The screen needs to be able to go down into the dash, I would get used to it, but it is kinda big. The infotainment is good, though.
2) The Club doesn’t come with the backup camera. I want the damn backup camera.
Anything else you guys want to know? I’ll stop my ramblings here.

Did you find the 12v accessory/tire inflator socket?

Fortunately I didn’t need it. I also didn’t really think to look as the salesman was in the right seat the whole time.

That would have been.... awkward.

I wonder if Ed Martin on Shadeland has the same pricing. I’d also be scared to open a car “that new” up because of various engine break-in procedures. I’m still amazed the car has gone down in weight with all the gizmos.

Back in 2006, I test drove an RX8 from Hubler Mazda that I was obviously not going to buy. Salesman was real cool about it and basically handed me the keys and “have fun”. Seems like a decent dealership.

I’d be willing to bet they’d match it.
And yeah, I only took it to about 4k. It was hard to resist it’s incessant begging to go to 5k+, though.
And I think for every gizmo, the engineers replaced more things with light materials. The doors are crazy light.

I didn’t even ask the guy. I just said I was looking at the 3 ND’s and the first thing he said was “Wanna take one for a spin?” He was a gruff guy, but he was nice. Apparently he lives right near me.

does it feel torquey?

I was concerned when we hit this one section on the road, because it felt like a wheel was about to come off. Turn out it was just hard-core frost heaves.

It pull better than the 1.8 in my NB did. The delivery is very smooth and linear, which is great in a car like this.

Greenwood is way the hell out there. Did you find some good roads for your drive?

Unfortunately, we only went up 31 a bit then right through downtown Greenwood. Once the spring rolls around, I’m going to see if one of the Miata club members will let me take on for a short drive on nicer roads.

Is it really as fun as they make you think it is? I e. Jalopnik

A Club model for $26K? That’s a better price than I’d have thought you could get.

I’d say so. I’m impressed that Mazda is still willing to make a tiny, two seat, sports car. According to the salesman, they sell about 2 or 3 a week, though.

I was somewhat dyslexic apparently, it was actually $29k.
Here’s the window sticker -

Did you mess with the top at all? My parents bought a Black ND a month ago. The top is one of the easiest manual tops I have ever messed with. It’s a fun little car but I’m too tainted with horsepower due to my other cars. The thing just didn’t have a great squash me in my seat feeling when I floored it.

I actually didn’t, it’s pretty cold outside in Indiana. I was impressed at how well insulated it was for a soft top, though.

Oh yeah, that’s a bit of a boring “course”, but at least you got to drive one! I’m jealous.

Speaking of the top, how was the ride noise with it up?
![]() 10/19/2015 at 13:12 |

It’s not bad actually, still get some road noise being a small 2 seater drop top but not as bad as I though it would have

Thanks. I’m excited to get one eventually, but it would be a daily driver (unless I don’t sell my RX-8), and it has to be livable year round.

Like Camaroboy said, it isn’t as bad as I expected. There is a bit from the back corners, but it was mostly just strong wind.
