What Brand Could You Be Exclusive To?

The ultimate test in brand loyalty. Yourself and all your family can only purchase one brand of car and trucks. I don’t mean you can choose Volkswagen and pull from Audi or Porsche. That also means you can’t choose Buick and pull from Vauxhall. You must purchase within that brand’s specific car and truck lineup.

Plus side, all global offerings (including optional drivetrains/technology, and current or discontinued models) are now available to you regardless of import laws . But realize that servicing the vehicle is still on you. New or used purchase prices aren’t made any better, and remember that future products count as well as the effects of the brand being killed off during your life time. So what brand would you be willing to live the rest of your life with and have all your family (including retired parents, new drivers, the well off relatives, and the ones that show off their favorite tooth) purchase exclusively?

Lexus. I can’t even. My dad’s been doing this for the last few cars we’ve purchased. We only got a Sienna because Toyota didn’t bring over the Alphard and rebadge it as a Lexus.

What can I say, we’re a dull family.

Actually this is only for cars and trucks. I did that on purpose or else I would have only picked between BMW and Honda, neither of which I want the cars exclusively.

Ford, since I already kinda am with my Mustang, Crown Vic, and F-150. But then you’re saying I can have worldwide Fords (gimme all the RS1800s and Sierra Cosworths, thanks) and that just makes it easier.

I’d have my wife in a bombed out Explorer, I’ll have a nice new F250 and a GT350R, and in 16 years when he’s old enough to drive, Thunderbolt Jr. can have whatever hotted up economy car they’re peddling.

Exclusivity is for marriages, contracts, and employment agreements. Outside of that? Nope.

Not gonna hamstring myself to a corporation full of strangers who wouldn’t hesitate to fuck me sideways through the ear canal with a chainsaw made of crushed diamonds and depleted uranium if it meant a 2% increase in their quarterly earnings. Want my loyalty? Make better products for me then. Don’t expect me to turn down someone else’s superior offering out of a misguided sense of loyalty to a group of incorporated strangers.

BMW. I don’t love all of their cars, but the ones I do love,mi want one of each in my garage, past and present. From the quintessential classics like the E30/E24/Neuclasse, to the i8.

People will flame me for this, but I really like the X5. I wish my wife would have picked an X5, but it isn't what she wants. I'm on my third BMW now, and I don't see myself getting anything else, other than maybe a Porsche.

Weirdly enough, Toyota. Their cars do everything competently. The only reason I’m not choosing Mazda is because they don’t have the proper minivan my parents are looking for. I could see my grandparents in a Corolla, my dad in an Echo, my mom in a Sienna, and me in either a gen 1 Sienna or a Tercel.

I couldn’t. I look for the car that best fits my ideal drive at the time, which itself evolves over the years. 12 months ago that would have been the GTI; now it’s the S2000. I would never want to be subject to one brand’s priorities.

You could go Nissan and use any Fairlady Z (S30, S130, etc.) marketed cars. It would mean you would have to theoretically import the vehicle though, but you mind find something better than the Datsun branded options.

Mazda. I’m a simple man with simple needs.

Hauling people? The 6 is fine.

Hauling more people, or people plus stuff? The MPV is still sold in the Asian market.

Hauling gear? The CX-X wagons can do it, and if they can’t, Australia’s BT-50 should take up the slack. (I don’t need to tow an RV or a boat. Maybe a little flatbed with drumline equipment to a parade, but I could do that with a CX-5.)

Carving corners? Miata. Duh.

I don’t need big power. I don’t need big luxury. I don’t need to do burnouts in order to prove that my genitals are extant. I like RWD, I like manual transmissions, and I like carving corners. Mazda gets that done for me.

Okay, fine, if I need to race, I can borrow the 787B.

Probably Chevrolet, as my grandparents and parents have owned one after the other in some way since 1972.... And Chevrolet built their first car in Brazil in 1969! I know I have a Fiat that I absolutely love, but... that doesn’t count. Yeah, it’s part of the Family.
