Latest in my occasional series on European sales stats finds us in Greece, land of retsina, moussaka (which is more Turkish) and debt (which is mainly German).
So, now that the Greeks are buying again what are they buying? Do VW do as well as elsewhere? Do Subaru do as badly, being clueless as to how to sell cars in Europe? These are good questions but they don’t make model by model figures readily available unless you can search Google.gr in the original so here we have make by make figures. Interestingly they refer to it as “taxinomiseis” from which we get “taxonomy”.
Anyways, here we go for the Top Ten for the period to September:
Toyota
VW
Nissan
Opel
Peugeot
Suzuki (there’s a surprise)
Citroen
Mercedes (another surprise!)
Fiat
Ford (most European countries are not into Ford)
Subaru, incidentally, have a share of 0.1%. Honda, another answer to a question rarely asked in Europe, get just 0.7%.
Interestingly, car makes and models are written in Roman letters in Greece as so, but Series and Classes are transliterated and translated :
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Have a slice of moussaka.

Neat!
Are you collecting car mags from every country you visit?

I’ve never been to Greece but Mr Google has...I have bought French mags but only because I can actually (slowly!) read those.
