That was always the problem with those SL’s. But hey, just more time to enjoy the sound on your way to 60!

Dammit, we sold one for cheap after my FIL died 6 years ago — he had owned it for almost 30 years. The wife and I (pre-kids) spent many a Saturday tooling around the wooded suburban backroads in it. The steering wheel and shifter both had about 6” of slop in them, but it ran well and really required DRIVING. None of this 2-ounce clutch and overboosted steering you get today. It was a workout.
The straight 6 may have been small and underpowered, but it could make some nice growls.

My parents neighbor had one like that, to go with his SL55AGM and McLaren SLR. Hes a merc man.
