I’m sure this has been covered multiple times but tell me... what sites do you use to car search? Maybe you don’t use the interwebs and strictly go to seedy car lots in your town.
Backstory: I sold my Camaro recently and my LGT is in the shop. Camaro will need to be replaced with something fast so the search is ON.
Sideblade for your time.

I use Autotrader, Craigslist, and Cars.com. Carsforsale.com can be OK if you’re looking for something at a small dealer or *gulp* buy-here-pay-here.
But I shop all the time. All the time.

I tend to go to carandclassic.co.uk to drool over all the many cars, many from manufacturers I’ve never heard of before, some really cheap and some at outstanding prices.
Or when looking for cars for friends I look at local dealer sites and autotrader then cross reference them to reviews and spec before recommending the vehicle for a friend to buy.
For myself I just go to the Skoda dealership and ask how much.

Nettiauto/Nettivaraosa.com, Craigslist, Goo-net.com, Yahoo Auctions, Auto24.ee, Mobile.de, eBay, Blocket.se. Not that most of these are very useful to you.

I use craigslist and that’s about it, my last two 4th gen Camaros were craigslist finds, and most cars my grandpa and I have bought and flipped have been through craigslist.

I pretty much only use auto trader. I will go craigslist or ebay if I’m looking for something old/rare.

Goo-net? Don’t know if I should be visiting those kind of sites while I’m at work.

Ideally I’d like to end up in something other than another 4th gen, but a WS-6 would be sweet...
If I could get into a cycle where I’m flipping fast cars, that would be the greatest.

depending on the budget mostly. CL for poor peeps like me. Cargurus.com and Cars.com for people that can finance a good new-ish car.

For stuff in the US in which proximity matters, I usually use AutoTempest, because filtering Craigslist by distance is a very good thing. For more insane things I brute-force Google search craigslist (name, site:craigslist.org) . When I’m looking at UK cars, there are several options, among them carandclassic like Svend mentioned.

Haha. It’s Japanese used cars site. They also have Goo-net-exchange.com which is in English but doesn’t have all the listings.

I’ve used AutoTempest but really like the older format more than the newer one. I like the brute force suggestion!

Brute force is when you’re wondering if anyone in the US is crazy/awesome enough to be selling your car in question. Matra Rancho, Trabant, Wartburg, Suzuki Every Joy Pop Turbo, etc. etc.

Yeah, AutoTrader has been working pretty well for me. By the by, how you like the S3? Is this picture appropriate?

I like it a lot, I keep reminding myself that I need to do an oppo review on it! The one I test drove was the same color as the one in your pic, so the pic is definitely appropriate.

Just quick enough? I’d like to replace my LGT with an AWD Audi. But it needs to be able to haul mountain bikes as well as ass.

cars.com for clean stuff (S2000), CL for older or beater stuff (NA Miata, random RWD cars). Enthusiast forums for harder-to-find cars like the first-gen MR2
I’m not a fan of eBay just because it seems harder to keep track of different items, and then relistings, and buyer renegs... just seems more chaotic than a straight listings site.

Never knew about carsforsale, but damn, I just tried a search, and the filtering is crazy broken for me.
All. the. time. :)

Yep, it’s at least as quick as any stock STi that I have owned/driven, and if that’s not enough an $800 tune can get you 70hp, 100ft/lbs, and to 60 in 3.8... if you’re into that sort of thing (I have not quite decided if I am).
I was at our local Subaru dealer a few weeks ago as (soon to be) Mrs. Trip wants to order a new Forester with a stick! I sat in a brand new STi and instantly remembered how much fun I used to have with mine, but at this point in my life I need more of an all arounder than a full on enthusiast car, plus it’s really hard to find one without the gigantic wing unless you order it.

Their filter is always a bit wonky. They tend to serve little suburban side lots more than major dealers and private parties.

Here in Jersey, I find a lot of the hole-in-the-wall places on cars.com

That’s why I have stuck with the LGT for about to be 3 years. It’s the adult’s WRX. Thanks for the mini S3 review ;) and Mrs. Trip sounds awesome.

Craigslist, Autotrader, Carmax. Ended up buying my current ride from Carmax because they had a fair deal (list price = Edmunds.com TMV) on a one-owner, off-lease car that I wanted.
Sometimes I browse AutoBase, but the listings are all from dealers, and many of the used cars are ridiculously overpriced.

Coming from a legacy, and hauling bikes/gear the S3 may be a little on the small side. I briefly considered and test drove an S4 manual but it felt really big/not as quick, and it jumped right out of my budget as soon as I added any of the options that are “must have’s” if you’re an enthusiast. However if you’re putting the bikes on a roof rack, it shouldn’t be an issue.

In Canada, there isn’t too much choice - Autotrader.ca is the most robust system, but if you have a few dealerships you know about, their sites can be very useful. There’s a Vancouver-based import dealer which sells a lot of RHD Evos, WRX, and cool Jalop Toyotas like a turbo Caldina wagon with a manual (no it’s not brown or diesel, thank goodness for that). The 15-year import rule is great, but not when you live in a stupid fuck of a province that will allow you to drive RHD but basically makes it impossible to insure your RHD car, and even if you can, you’re paying out the arse for it (and I’m not talking about that useless insurance which basically only allows you to take it to and from car shows - I’d want to use it as a daily driver).
Domestic market WRX/Evos are difficult to find, and really expensive when you do - the JDM ones are generally in better condition for far less. I really, really want one for a daily driver...
