I’m a Yanks fan but this moment was just amazing in the ALDS. A bat flip for the ages

anything that pisses off baseball purists is ok with me.

Just drop it and run.

I don’t have to like this and I won’t.

The MLB world has certainly been shaken up this year.

Shut up, this was pure passion! It was quite fun to see pure unadulterated human emotion.

Rangers fan here, but I’m not one of the butthurt fans complaining about it. Huge moment in a huge game, celebrate it dude. And Dyson, the Rangers pitcher, needs to shut his pie hole about it — dude, don’t give up a HR if you don’t want to see the hitter celebrate it. OTOH, if Dyson drills Bautista in the hip next year because Bautista tossed his bat and posed, well, such is life.

If you say so. It’s easy to call it passion if it’s your team (assuming it is). Regardless, I’m just sick of attitude in sports.

When you've worked years to get somewhere, I think it's well warranted

Okay.

What?!?! did you even read my OP? I noted explicitly I’m a Yanks fan

Yes, I read it. And realized my error after posting. But I figured the “you” could be considered a collective “you”, so I left it.

Fuck the Yankees.

Thanks! :) my team’s 27 World Series rings will just have to do to dry my tears

that’s what baseball needs, more boredom.

They’ve been a slightly above average team for the last 15 years despite spending more than entire divisions in baseball. There isn’t a worse run franchise in major sport.
I mean, they were obviously a great team before WWII, and before they let black guys play but that’s not something I’d boast about in 2015.

every team has its bad moments. We’ll be back and kill them all again with another dynasty!

Not until you get rid of Cashman and his pay-old-farts-shitloads-of-money-to-underperform business model. Every other team in baseball is running their organization better currently.

exactly, we WANT to see players get emotional during big moments. This was amazing.

So I enjoy watching a baseball game every once in a while, but I’m really not familiar with a lot of the cultural things associated with it... So why exactly is this bat flip such a big deal? I mean, why has it become this thing that everyone either loves or hates?

It’s really a culture difference between the way the game is taught and played in different countries. In the US you’re largely taught to just drop the bat and run and not show up your opponents. Latin American countries have more of a flair to their game where they do this kinda stuff. Personally I don’t care for the bat flips like this but there’s not much you can really do.

huh. I guess I’m just surprised that it’s such a big thing. I mean he had to throw/drop the bat, who cares if it was embellished a little bit?

It was a bit excessive but sometimes you do get very emotional and caught up in the moment so I guess you could let this slide being such a big home run. Doing it on a HR that made it 3 rows back, yeah, that’s sorta different.

Regardless if your not a Jays fan, this was the best baseball game I have ever seen, and likley will ever!

True to life in every contex and situation. Sometimes you need to suck it up... Aka Dyson

No! Not after all the crap that happened in this game! This game was anarchy, and happened right at the peak of it all! On top of that all Bautista rides home on push scooter....

I have seen other teams games that I don’t like, and can appreciate their moments.

I beg to differ, I’m a Leafs fan....
