Luckily the only injury was to the guys pride.
This afternoon I was leaving studio, which I commute to 3 days a week, about 20 minutes away from campus. I’m following two guys on motorcycles, one on a Harley knockoff and the other a 250-500cc Ninja. In order to get back to town (we’re out by the airport because the college is dumb) you have to navigate two roundabouts at either end of an overpass. I find this setup somewhat bizarre, but it seems to work well. I follow them through the first roundabout no problem and over the overpass. One thing you should know about the area is that it’s reasonably rural and the roads are always pretty dusty and sandy.
(green=Harley,blue=ninja, red=me)
About half way through the second roundabout the inside lane is forced into the outer one. This has a side effect of letting dust/sand accumulate in the striped-off area. The Harley takes it reasonably and accelerates out. The Ninja cuts the corner and stands on it, intending to run down the on-ramp.
Except he didn’t.
Instead the bike washed out and he low-sided. Plastic fairing grating and mirror shearing off in the process he slid a surprisingly long way, stopping only when he hit the curb. I stopped to see if he was okay but he untangled himself from the bike and got up quickly. His buddy on the Harley had stopped too and walked back to help him drag the bike off the road. Seeing as he was fine, I headed back to campus.
I’m surprised this is the first motorcycle crash I’ve seen considering the number of bros with bikes here.
Impala SS for your time.

The Impala SS?
I posted it earlier and BJR named it almost immediately.

There are plenty more in the pipeline, and I’m going obscure for tomorrow.

Ill never forget about a month ago I witnessed a huge ego crusher for a guy on a Harley.
He was on the main road and wanted to do a u-turn, so he turned into the asphalt opening in the median (totally legal) and just sorta lost his balance and had a super slow motion fall over. He was up right away and just put his hands on his head in a moment of “the fuck did I just do?” Picked up the bike and went home.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a dash cam.

Is that the double rotary just past the airport, when headed towards Manhattan? Hate that segment, though I did get a rental Charger a little sideways on the exit of one of the rotaries.
The first motorcycle crash you witnessed was a lot better than the one I did. Red asphalt and corpses.

Yep. The college, in it’s infinite wisdom, moved us out there for the year.

At least 18 isn’t a bad drive. Unless you take the backroads and Skyline(?) Drive?

We alternate which way we take, to keep it interesting.
