Oppo if you could get a Ford GT350 with the technology package for $55k and free maintenance would you buy that over a BMW M2? Which would you choose and why? I recently posted a thread about cars with a $1k payment and pretty much ended up thinking a Gt350 or m235i would be my best bet, but now a M2!?!? This changes the game. On the GT350 I’d get invoice pricing and free maintenance, on the M2 id be only regular old buyer, so oppo what would be your choice? Also for reference I’m 6’3 and have never sat in a 2 series, would i fit?

M2 cause it’s the right size.

350 for that engine

My first inclination is the Mustang because of its glorious noise and probable lower maintenance but I’d at least have to sit in them to say. How their suspensions deal with real world roads would have a lot to do with which one I’d get.

If the M2 was actually worthy of the moniker I would probably choose it. So for me it would be a GT350 base.

If the M2 had a naturally aspirated, high-revving I-6 built to be stupid (horse)powerful (Think S2000 style, but two more cylinders.) I would be more tempted than I am for the turbo M2.

I’d have to go GT350, mostly for the noise.

GT350 because more power. Plus, it probably won’t weigh that much more.

Neither. C7 Corvette is a better buy

As much of a BMW person I am, I would have to pick the Mustang. Without piling on aftermarket modifications I think the GT350 would be a more exciting and interesting (not to mention most likely faster) car to drive.

Personally I say M2.

Not only to go against the crowd but there are so many Mustangs out there. And the M2 seems like it will be a hundred or two pounds lighter.

I’ve heard a GT350. I’ve heard a M3. GT350 howling is much better.

The GT350 will make you feel more special and probably what I’d choose, but if you have to drive it everyday the M2 is a safer bet.

I would say GT350, but the M2 will age slower and will depreciate less. Probably.

The M2 is probably the more refined car (especially the interior) and is undoubtedly more tossable thanks to its smaller size.

But the GT350 has that glorious, sonorous fucking engine, with more power and in the right hands, is probably a better all-around track car.

It’s a tough choice...but I’d probably take the Mustang because of that great V8.

M2, because I don’t like to associate with the demographic that is associated with Mustangs. And I’ve always dreamt of owning a BMW. After driving a few, they are amazing.

I drive a near-base M235i right now, and I’d go for the M2. The 235 is a fantastically balanced car, and it has all the power I could ever need. The M2 adds more. There aren’t too many changes, other than performance changes, from the M235i to the M2. The seats are identical (and fantastic), and there’s great all-around visibility. The back seats are pointless, though, but I’d imagine that’s the same case in the Mustang.

As for height, I’m also 6’3” and fit perfectly, even if you choose a sunroof.

GT350.

The M2 sounds like a great car, and I really like the size and feel of the M235s I’ve driven - like a well-matured and evolved E30 M3, but with a lot more poise and power - but I just find the GT350 wholly appealing.

Of the two choices, I'd go M2. However, if I can choose any sporty car in that price range, I'm getting a Stingray convertible.

As a Eurosnob, I’d rather have the GT350. The M2 is pretty underwhelming to me. 7:58 Nurburgring time, 8 seconds slower than the Civic Type-R. Everything else I can get behind, but I personally would take these cars to the track and if the ‘Ring time is any indication of its track performance, the M2 would be less suited than the others. GT350 is cheaper than the M2 with options? Feerrddd.
