Wonder what the registration process for armored vehicles is?

The Ferret was designed from the start to be a “highway-capable, street-usable fast scout vehicle” it came equipped with full lights (with a blackout switch) and was capable of over 60MPH. Many of them simply had their armaments removed and were sold directly to the public at auction. They even had number-plate brackets!
1) Import to USA after 25 years
2) go to DMV
3) get plates
4) drive!

I imagine they fetch a pretty penny as a result of being that “easy” to get on the road?

meh, not too bad, the best one I can find for sale right now is a restored ready-to-drive, 1955 example with good paint and a recent engine rebuild for £11,000. That’s a little higher than some other military vehicles of that size and vintage, but pretty low for an armored car... Albeit it IS a small one. (still weighs 8000lbs, despite the compact dimensions though!)
also found another “runs and drives, needs cosmetic restoration” for $9500 and an incomplete resto with the driveline rebuilt, hull stripped and primed and engine out but rebuilt for £6500.

I’m doubting the Trash Hauler will remove it by accident... depending on what revision it is it weighs between 7700 and 8600 pounds.

sure, but he might grab apparent detritus that is in actuality valuable unfindable parts. throw such loose parts in his truck before giving up on the endeavor. perhaps just chipping away at the task week by week until all thats left is the 8000lb husk
