Here’s a vid about the generation that came before, for your effort.

There is a workable example that came up for sale up my neck of the woods, and a friend of mine (no really, I am asking for a friend here, honestly) is seriously contemplating going for it. Looks like this:

Kinja'd!!!

It is 1.6, but not the factory 2T with 85 HP, instead there’s a more sporty 2T-B 1.6 in there with around 110 hp (i think?) and a 5speed ‘box. Otherwise it’s stock, and is said to have seen work on the body, so there is no rust. However, I just don’t know much about these, don’t even know if these are live-axe, or IRS.

So tell me Oppo, what does a hoon need to know about 3rd gen Celicas?

I’m assuming you aren’t in the US, since all A60 Celica’s in the USA came with a 22RE 2.4L engine (some early ones may have had a carbed 22R, but whatever). Same engine as the old 4Runner/Truck.

In the US, there were GTS and GT models, in coupe, hatchback, and convertible body styles. The GT had a solid rear axle with drum brakes, open diff, and economy seats. The GTS had independent rear suspension, (optional) LSD, and rear disc brakes, as well as wider wheels, sport seats like the Celica Supra, and fender flares.

No, I’m not in the US, but thanks, this helped a lot anyway. Cheers!
