Florida woman live streams her drunken crash, gets charged with DUI
A Florida woman incriminated herself this weekend when she broadcast herself admittedly driving drunk through a Central Florida city.
The Lakeland Police Department began receiving 911 calls from viewers of Periscope, the Twitter-owned social media app allowing users to live stream video, saying a slurring 23-year-old Whitney Beall was filming while behind the wheel, according to a news release.
“I am (expletive) drunk and this is horrible, I don’t even know where the next gas station is, this is horrible guys,” Beall drunkenly wailed in the Periscope video, obtained by local Florida news station, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
“She’s slurring her speech and she’s going from one lane to another on the street,” a 911 caller told Lakeland Police Department dispatch in an audio recording. The caller was able to send a link to the Periscope stream, leading officers to Beall in her 2015 Toyota Corolla, with a flat tire.
Officers were able to locate landmarks in the video to catch up with Beall who hit a curb just as officers initiated the traffic stop, police said. Police said Beall failed to brake, even after hitting the curb.
What the 911 caller said was confirmed during the stop – reporting officers said she smelled of alcohol, was slurring, was disoriented and had bloodshot, glossy eyes.
After failing the field sobriety tests and refusing a breathalyzer, Beall was arrested and charged with DUI, according to the release.
“The streaming Periscope video highlights the dangers of driving while intoxicated through the eyes of a drunk and irresponsible young adult,” the release said. “The Lakeland Police Department is extremely thankful that this did not result in an accident and no one was injured as a result of her poor decision.”

Seriously, why do so many folks not only seem inclined to idiocy, but also feel the need to film themselves engaging in said idiocy, and then post it online?
