Like, every other make (even Kia , for chrissakes) has something prestigious or sporty that exemplifies what the brand is capable of, but the nicest car Honda has right now is the Accord. It’s a good car and all, but it’s not really anything special, and the forthcoming NSX is looking like it’ll be badged as an Acura here again. Honda USA has been sans flagship since the S2000 was dropped, and that needs to be fixed.

they can semi-remedy this by bringing the S660 over along with serious hype.
You are right though and it’s ashame that there’s nothing they offer right now that appeals to me. My next car won’t be a Honda/Acura :(

Acura’s flagship has been a joke for a long time now.

Honda has intentionally been keeping itself as the “Value” brand. Anything sporting or luxurious they make gets shunted over to Acura. It’s an OK sales model but it leaves Honda with a rather boring image that appeals only to the economical shopper.

Honda has a Flagship.
Nobody does it better.

One word: Laurels.

This isn’t Lanesplitter.

True, but Acura has nothing sporty. Anything Honda makes that is “sporty”, they keep overseas

Yup. But I’d be fine with:

Hey! It’s Honda, not me!

ew.

That’s not a bad thing. What we need to do is stop thinking of Acura as a luxury brand, but as a more serious Honda.

Hahahahahaha
The NSX here soon
Hahahaha

Acura. But they don’t even do that well for that matter.

Because you’re totally gonna buy one, right?
Honda doesn’t need a flagship anything. Honda is printing money on Accords, CR-Vs and Pilots. What do they need a flagship product for? Just to say they have one? That doesn’t make good business sense.

Odyssey and Pilot. They have all the Honda ingredients. I mean, the Odyssey has a vacuum on the Touring Elite trim.

You’re saying Honda’s best effort is a vacuum?

simple fix: new s2000
too bad it probably won’t ever happen

Or even a new Prelude. Built it on the Accord Coupe platform but throw every stylist and bit of tech they have at it until something amazing emerges.
That’s exactly what the original Preludes were, a showcase of developing technologies and a glimpse at what Hondas of the future could be like.

But the Goldwing might as well be a car at this point.

I don’t think a kei car can be considered a flagship, particularly in America. There’d be riots in the streets.
![]() 10/11/2015 at 22:46 |

Eh...it’d be something totally unique to Honda’s market here at least
![]() 10/11/2015 at 22:47 |

They need an S2000ish coupe, with a 300+HP turbo engine, that gets over 30mpg hwy. Something like the FRS but with adequate power.

It even has an airbag for goodness sakes...

One thing could fix this whole mess: Accord Type-R with SH-AWD.

tweak the styling and call it a Prelude.
![]() 10/11/2015 at 22:58 |

Nah, historically Honda’s forte is high-revving NA engines.
![]() 10/11/2015 at 22:58 |

Yeah and that’d be great. But try to sell Americans something small yet premium and backflips will be had.

Also true..but id be one if the few doing back flips into the dealer to test drive and hopefully buy

Honda Needs an S2000, just make the S2000, again, every one who doesn’t suck will buy one,
